Elphaba is the main character, along with Galinda, in Wicked the musical. But you probably know her as the Wicked Witch of the West. You're probably like, "yeah, she's my last favorite character, she's evil" or "what did Dorothy do to her?" I'm going to tell you the truth. So Elphaba had a sister, Nessarose (Wicked Witch of the East) who had been crippled her whole life and had to be in a wheelchair. Then, when Madam Morrible and The Wizard of Oz gave Elphaba the book of spells, she went to see her sister. Her sister was mad at her because she thought she was being too selfish. After that, Elphaba found a spell in her spellbook that made Nessarose able to walk. The spell put the ruby red slippers on Nessarose so she was able to walk. The wizard and Madam Morrible had told everyone that Elphaba was wicked, so she ran away. They were trying to capture Elphaba, so they used her sister as a weakness. Madam Morrible's talent was weather, so she created the tornado that sent Dorothy there and killed Nessa. Elphaba was sad, and knew that the shoes were the last things she had of Nessa. When she found out Dorothy had them, she was mad, so she went out to find Dorothy and the shoes, so she could remember her sister. So, Elphaba actually had a good reason for wanting the shoes, and if you still disagree with me, comment.
