Dream catchers

Chapter 1

I wake up to the sound of my alarm going off, I stretch and get out of bed. I had a weird dream, but nothing too special, sometimes I wish I could control my own dream as if it were real life, anything better than my life right now. Escaping from reality is my ultimate goal, I feel like no one wants me here, well, except my friend Cassidy. She and I have been friends since kindergarten, we were the kids people used to bully and pick on so I guess you could say that's why we relate, but kindergarten is a different story, right now is the story of high school and boy does it suck. My room is a mess as I search and dig for an outfit in my closet, not much in my closet anyways besides about 4 shirts and 3 pairs of jeans. I've always wished for more clothes but like that's going to happen, I brush my teeth and hair and grab my bag, I pass by my mom's room and she's asleep, as always. I can see Cassidy waiting for me at the bus stop so I head over there. Cassidy and I are the only kids from the trailer park that go to school, the rest seemed to be drop outs or people who didn't care to go.

"Hey sky, looking a little blue today?" she laughs

, she always tell me this, it's like her signature quote since my name is Skylar. We only have each other, guess people don't like us very much to begin with, probably because were "too poor", but I don't really care.

"Hey did you hear about Ashton Irwin coming to town?! I heard it on the radio!" she squeals,

"yes of course I did but how exactly can we afford to go to it?" I respond with irritation.

"The guy on the radio said we could win tickets if we listen to the broadcast tonight!"

, I sigh

"OH! Come on sky, don't be like that, and think about it! We could actually win!" she adds on.

The thought of winning to see one of my all-time favorite artist is exciting, but honestly what are the odds?

The bus pulls up and we both get on and sit next to each other.

"That only happens in dreams" I late respond.

She rolls her eyes,

"Hey I was thinking we can go to the yard sale event after school! I have 5$ "she says with excitement,

I swear she's way too happy in the mornings. I nod my head and stare out the window .What if we did win the contest? I mean, it won't hurt to try. We are finally at school and I swear I hope this day to go by fast. After school I and Cassidy walk to the yard sale she was talking about and she just keeps talking and talking till finally she says,

"Hey do you mind if I stay at your house for the weekend?"

I nod my head and keep walking, I'm not the very social type of person, I guess you could say. We reach the yard sale and I dig through some boxes and encounter this beautiful dream catcher, Cassidy must have seen be all google eyed because she grabbed it straight out of my hand and bought it.

"Cassidy what the hell?" I sigh.

She gives me a smirk and checks her phone and screams.

"OH MY GOD OH MY GOD THE BROADCAST IS GONNA START IN 15 MINUTES!! WE BETTER GET GOING!"

She grabs my hand and starts running and up my staircase into the trailer and straight to my room. I'm panting out of breath, I'm not very athletic, but damn I know Cassidy is in cross country run but she can at least consider my health. She turns up the radio and there's tiny bits of static. I sit there in disbelief

, "This is a waste of time", I mumble as I hang up my new dreamcatcher.

"Stop being a sourpuss!" she screams.

I lay down on the bed and think, suddenly I slowly start to fall asleep.

I wake up in a cloudy place and I can see Cassidy sleeping on a polar bear. I stand there in confusion, I walk closer to her and hear her snoring, I must be dreaming, but this dreaming is weird, it's never felt so...Real. I touch Cassidy's shoulder to wake her up. She bolts up and falls off the polar bear which then started to get angry.Uh-oh ,

"What the hell Sky, I was sleeping and-WHOAH WHAT THE HECK WHERE ARE WE??"

I grab her hand and start to run, the polar bear is chasing us and I begin to feel the wind hit my face and it reminds me of a beach. Just as I said that, we appear on a beach and the polar bear is nowhere to be found. Cassidy stands up and dusts herself off from sand.

"Sky, where are we?" she asks frightened.

Well of course I am dreaming but how am I going to explain that to Dream character Cassidy? Which is weird, I never dream of Cassidy. As Cassidy says she's scared, a huge cloud comes down in the ocean, forming a tornado. Oh carp, i start running but it's no use, me and her get sucked up into the tornado, Then all of a sudden I am awake in my room panting hard and feeling sore all over my body. I look at Cassidy who also has the same expression as me. Then we both say in sync

"I had a weird dream".

What?

"I HAD THIS DREAM THAT WE WERE BEING CHASE BY A POLAR BEAR AND THEN CLOUDS AND BEACH AND-"she screams

"whoa hold on Cass I had the exact same dream I think.." she gives me a blank stare,

hope she doesn't think I'm crazy.

"OH MY GOSH, I THINK ..I THINK WE JUST LUCID DREAMED TOGETHER LIKE IN THAT ONE MOVIE"

I cut her off with

"Cass that sounds crazy maybe it's just a coincidence?"

she jumps up and crosses her arms.

"No I think this was definitely that."

I start to think for a good moment and actually consider her idea, did we just combine dreams?

It's been 5 days, me and Cassidy have been lucid dreaming together ,we are at the goodwill right now looking for some clothes and she's rambling on and on about lucid dreaming and how fun it is and what we will do next when we are interrupted by some doctor it appeared to be.

"You ladies like lucid dreaming?" he says in a formal low tone voice ,

I turn to Cassidy but she seems to be blank staring the tall blue eyed man in his doctor uniform.

"uhm yea its fun..."

I say as I look at the floor and swing back and forth, is this what social anxiety feels like?

"Well I think you guys should keep doing it...it is a fun way to...to. Meet new things" he says with a mischievous smile.

  I get suspicious at first but I shake that though off as I admire his beautiful face structure.

Cassidy is still quiet, for once in her life.

"Hey do you ladies happen to know Ashton Irwin, I mean you are teenagers and-"

"YES OF COURSE WE DO WE LOVE HIM SO MUCH DID YOU HEAR HES COMING TO TOWN???!" Cassidy cuts him off and she is heavy breathing as if she had been holding her breath this whole time.

I nudge her and she puts her hand over her face and blushes.

"Well that's great I have these 2 meet and greet tickets that my daughter won but she can't go because she will be out of town searching for colleges and I was wondering if maybe you guys would-"

"OF COURSE WE WILL OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH MR UM DOCTOR GUY...HEHE..."

I give Cassidy a dirty look as she just rudely snatched the tickets from the handsome doctor, I assume it's the way she was raised ,but who am I to judge? He laughs and nods his head and says

"Okay then you ladies have a good time" he smiles as he walks away
