Hello!
It's definitely been awhile since I've posted on here and although this isn't my other book I wanted to finally release this and I might also publish an ongoing Naruto Fanfic series. There are many reasons for me doing this: 1.) Naruto characters are so attractive + cute personality + tragic backstories = baes, 2.) Naruto my beloved childhood friends and the story that helped me through many problems in my life has ended. It's so sad, I just watched Boruto the movie last weekend and I'm still not over it.
In this compilation of one-shots I'll be making 'x reader's', AUs, and other random Naruto related fan fictions.
* Anyway here the important things you need to know to comprehend this 'x Reader': Basic Naruto knowledge, this is the point in the story where Asuma was killed and InoShikaChou seek justice for his death, my friend wanted the Reader's companion to be name Yung Shogi haha he is a frog, and lastly this is in the reader's point of view.*

"Hide," Yung Shogi whispered.
"How am I supposed to hide from a shadow?" I asked the slimy frog sticking to my back.
"In the light, of course."
"I can't use my jutsu just yet. I'm waiting for the right time."
Shadows, like brushstrokes of the blackest ink, snaked around the trees, hunting for a victim to succumb to its possession.
"Could you hurry up? I'm tired from that last jutsu we pulled off." Shogi complained.
"You can return back, there's no need to stay when you've already done your job. The jutsu's done."
"Nah, I want to see how this turns out. Let's see how far you've come."
Gathering my chakra into the soles of my feet, I climbed to the highest branch with ease to get a better view my opponent. Shikamaru was in the center of a circle of shadow dividing in waves extending out into the woods like the rays of the sun.
The expression on his face was not like his usual expression, even from up high I could see how focused he was.
This was nowhere near regular training. This was a test to score vengeance. When news about Asuma's death came to me, I was shocked and saddened. Even more so, nervous and worried for how Ino, Chouji, and Shikamaru would be after this trauma. There was definitely a rift and I became concerned for Team Ten when they announced their plan of revenge. Revenge did nothing but open the crack of emptiness even more, when Sasuke left we knew what that meant. I didn't want Shikamaru to enter that path, but I had a feeling it wouldn't end the same way.
"No way, he's really going all out," I stared in amazement and worry.
"He might actually kill you," Shogi chuckled behind.
"How tiresome, I guess I'll have to give it my all too," I sighed.
"You're starting to sound just like Nara boy."
Suddenly, the shadows' directions changed and started to scale up the trees. I jumped down but landed unsteadily on the ground. I decided to distance myself as far as it was safe enough and try to trick him. Kage Bunshin No Jutsu! I released a shadow clone to confuse Shikamaru. Dodging and jumping over the silhouettes, I reached an unmarked spot at the ends of the shadows.
My clone was caught in the web of silhouettes and Shikamaru noticed. Most of the shadows returned back into Shikamaru's main shadow but there were still several around, just in case. I left Yung Shogi in a tree safe from Shikamaru's shadow possession since he insisted on staying 'to watch the show'.
Inhale. Exhale. Feel both your Spirit and Body fuel together and...
Dragon, Hare, Monkey, Horse, Boar, Hare, Dragon! I made the hand signs swiftly, as I announced my jutsu: "Light Prism!"
White light gathered and connected at each end in a shape of a hexagon, becoming smaller and encasing Shikamaru and diminishing his shadows. I ran in and held a kunai to his neck.
"I win." But instead of seeing his angered face, a smirk stretched on his face.
"I win," said the real Shikamaru behind as he rose the kunai to my neck.
I laughed, "You got me. So you used your Clan's Jutsu and a shadow clone too? Well played, Pineapple Head."
He shot me a look of annoyance.
"You too, Baka."
Poof! Our shadow clones disappeared along with our Jutsus. I walked back with Shikamaru to his house as he talked me through his plan to defeat Hidan and Kakuzu, the Akatsuki members who had killed Asuma Sensei.

Ino, Chouji, and Shikamaru returned after their mission victorious. I met up with Shikamaru to see how he changed after the mission.
He sat against the big oak tree across the cemetery where Ino and Chouji were praying. I took a seat next to him and noticed something different. His eyes were no longer sad or enraged, not happy either, but at peace. I realized his act on revenge wasn't solely for vengeance, it was doing what Asuma could not finish. It was Justice. I congratulated him on success and he replied with a sudden embrace.
"Thank you."
And we sat there listening to the breeze under the sunlight that filtered through the leaves of the big oak tree, knowing that things were alright.

"Heh, I saw you out there!" Yung Shogi was there to greet me home.
"Why are you still here?" I asked.
"I told you I wanted to know how things ended. So are things happening with you and the Nara boy?" Shogi give an evil smirk.
"I'm going to kill you..."
