A Forgotten Friend | Rumors and Explanations

I am positive about two things. First, I have fallen for my best friend, Edward and second, we cannot be more than friends.

Well, the reason why I think that we cannot be together is that I don't think Edward feels the same way about me as I feel about him. I cannot let my feelings destroy our friendship because if i confess to him about how I feel and he rejects me, which I'm quite sure of, nothing will be the same between us.

After watching the movie, my mom had given me the permission to sleep over at Edward's place. She trusted us and knew that nothing would happen between us. Edward and I stayed up till midnight as we talked about anything and everything. He told me how things were going back in Beckenham and I updated him with latest gossips of our school. I was dying to tell Sarah about everything, she didn't even know that Edward's my childhood best friend. I had a lot of explanations to do tomorrow.

To say that I was excited for tomorrow, was a complete understatement. I was so looking forward to tomorrow since we both will be officially best friends!

I got up from the comfortable bed of the Knight's guest room and headed towards the bathroom. Yesterday, I had borrowed a spare toothbrush and Pyjamas from Mrs. Knight. So, I brushed my teeth and took a quick shower and changed back into my yesterday's clothes.

I headed downstairs and saw Mrs. Knight cooking in the kitchen while humming some country song. I made my way into the kitchen and greeted, "Good Morning, Mrs. Knight."

"Oh, good morning, dear. The breakfast is almost ready. Have a seat." said Mrs. Knight. Thankfully, she hadn't noticed that I had just called her Mrs. Knight instead of Amelia.

I took a seat on one of the stools placed in front of the kitchen counter and waited for my breakfast. She then placed a plate of cheese omelette in front of me. I savoured in the smell of the scrumptious looking omelette and started digging in.

It tasted like heaven. While I was eating my omelette Edward and Ashely, his younger sister entered the kitchen.

"Oh My God, Ashley!!" I said,"it's been such a long time. You've grown so pretty! Do you remember me? I'm Rachel."

She did look pretty as she had her blonde hair tied into a neat ponytail and was wearing a pink top with black skirt and pink converse.

"Oh My Gosh, Rachel!! Yeah, its been so long. And how can i not remember you? You were eddie's best friend! I mean, you are eddie's best friend. Sorry, I couldn't meet you yesterday as I had gone to a friend's place." she said as she rushed towards me and gave me a tight hug.

"Oh, it's okay! Now come on, let's have breakfast together." I said while pulling away.

"Yeah, I'm starving." she said as she took a seat next to me.

"What about me?" asked Edward, "Where's my hug? You both completely ignored me."

Ashley and I both looked at each other and smiled evilly. Then we both went to Edward and squeezed the life out of him.

"Okay, girls! Chill! I can't breathe." said Edward while struggling to breathe. We both pulled away from him and went back to having our breakfast.

"So Ashley, how are you liking your new school so far?" I asked Ashley while taking in the last bite of my delicious omelette.

"Oh, the new school is pretty good! I've made many new friends and they seem quite nice." she answered.

"That's good." I said. And for the next few minutes we remained silent until Edward said, "Okay, I'm done with my breakfast. I think we should get going then."
