CHAPTER I

THE TRUTH

Emery Shaye LaChance.Beautiful name isn't it? I live with my twin brother Gordie.We may be twins but we don't share the same interests except for one.All my life I've been treated like a princess.Staying at home all day playing Barbies with my girl neighboors.I hate it! My parents always get me the best toys,shoes,dresses and all those girly girl stuff but deep inside,I literally would burn all them if I can.Gordie goes out with three other boys namely Chris,Teddy and Vern.They're probably the best gang here in Castlerock.Gordie gets to go outside really early everyday and comes home late.I remember a time he got this wound on his elbow after falling from a tree beside our house,mom just gave him alcohol and bandages and after it,he was outside playing again.While that time I got this little bruise after hitting myself with my own fist,damn,if you just saw her face.She panicked as if I was dying.Jeez,she needs to stop.It doesn't mean Gordie's a boy and I'm a girl we get to be treated differently.

"Hey Gordie,where you out today?"I asked him wondering why his backpack looked so full."Going out with the boys to go camping"."Can I come?" I begged him."No"He said tying his shoelace."Oh,come on Gordie.I'm sick of being here all day.It's not what I'm into.I hate barbies!"I yelled."are you kidding me,Em?"He looked at me as if what I said was a joke."no Gordie,I'm not"I said sternly."Oh come on Em.You can't even get out this door without mom asking you hundreds of questions"He said."that's thr point! If I do it,she'll probably stop asking such dumb questions"I tried to convince him."sorry Em,not today"He got out the door and forgot to close it.I looked at him until he was out of sight.Why can't he just let me go with them? I turned off the TV and marched to my room.I put on some music and opened the glass door which lead to my mini balcony.I looked around and tried to be calm after getting pissed at Gordie.From a far,I could see Gordie and his friends walking.They were probably heading back here.I could tell they saw me and were talking about me.Luckily,I had my magazine to save me.I quickly opened it and started read-...uh..fake reading.I took glances from my magazine and back at them.Not long enough,they were in the house.You could easily tell if they're here because you could here Teddy's voice.He was very loud.

"Hey man wasn't that your sister up there?"Chris asked Gordie."Yeah,it was her"."does she have any friends?"."no,I don't think so.Mom won't let her go outside,ever"."jeez,that must be tough..why don't you let her camp out with us?"Chris suggested."that's a bad idea Chris"."why not? She's your twin. .I'm sure she's not that different from you" Chris walked upstairs and Gordie followed him.

I heard them coming up and about to get in my room.I keot calm and continued reading.

"Hey,Em!"Chris said barging in my room."what do you want?"I asked with a straight face but actually,I was hoping he'd let me join them deep inside me."could you come with us?"He asked.There it was,tge question I've been waiting for my entire life.I got speechless and didn't know what to say."Yes or no?"He asked once again."Fine,I'll come"I said."cool!"He exclaimed.I stood up and got my backpack.I placed all the stuff I needed in it."Are we all set?"Chris asked."yeah"I replied.

We finally left the house.I felt the breeze of the wind,and saw the sun shine at me.I could tell this is gonna be a great day! As we walked,Gordie and I never spoke to eachother,we didn't even give eye contact.Who's fault is it anyway? He walked ahead of us and I was just beside Chris with Teddy and Vern behind us.We then continued walking until we reached the woods where the train tracks were.
