30 things I like
two
I really like sunrises and walking to school. Before mum left, she always worried that year seven me couldn't survive the half hour walk to my school. Then when she left the next year, and my dad couldn't care less, I walked to school.
I like to get to school earlier than everyone else, I don't know why but I do. Sunrises are nicer than sunsets, because they mean beginnings, not endings. It's the one time of day where the cars crawl sluggishly and the birds can finally be heard. Plus I can avoid the idiots that shout at me sometimes. They don't go to my school, but I have to walk past a bus stop on the way home. A gang of boys started making fun of my ginger hair, and when I dyed it black they made fun of me even more.
When Dan came to my house for the first time, he gave them the middle finger and it gave me this warm and smug feeling on the inside. Dan flashed a grin at me and I remember one hobbit curl fell over his eye and he pushed it out the way.
He has recently started to straighten his hair, and I like it.
But I like Dan's curls more.
They're short and lovely, like a sunrise.
I like sunrises.
