Aftermath Breakup
K A I P A R K E R

It'd been about a month since your breakup with Malachai Parker, and you quickly took interest in a boy named Alex.

You weren't sure if you were ready to date again, but Alex Quintin was just so nice. He was cute, kind - he was really into you and it was adorable.

Alex's grip on your waist loosened, he stiffened. You could tell he was nervous - he was such a gentleman and shy'd away from PDA. You two were walking around the mall, currently just walking around the main strip, no store in mind.

You placed a kiss on his lips, leading his hand lower on your waist. "It's okay," you giggled.

"I'm sorry," he ran his other hand through his long spiked blonde hair. "I'm just -"

"Nervous?" You finished with a smile, staring up at him. "There's no one I'd rather be seeing a scary movie with, okay?"

Alex grinned, snugging you tighter against his side. "You're beautiful," he mumbled, nuzzling his nose into your soft hair. He always said he loved your hair.

Suddenly his fingers ran up and down your ribs, effectively tickling you. "Alex," you hissed in laughter.

He kept tickling you, forcing you back to him when you squirmed. "Alex, stop! Alex!"

Your body shook with laughter.

You guys were making a scene, you were slowly falling to the ground in hysterical laughter, Alex still pestering you.

"I," you breathed, "can't," you gasped, "breathe!"

People with their shopping bags all stared at you and your new boyfriend, some admiring and some weirded out.

An elderly couple smiled, swerving around you two.

Alex finally stopped, allowing you to catch your breath. He was overwhelmed in his laughter, his cheeks raised and he was grinning - you loved his smile.

Alex gripped your forearm rather tightly, out of the blue, catching your attention. "What?" You asked breathlessly, as you both stood from the mall floor.

"That's him, right?" Alex asked in a loud whisper, lips pressed to your ear.

You didn't get what he meant. "Who? What -"

"That guy over there. He's with your friend Damon. They've been watching us... For like the past five minutes."

Kai. Kai had been watching you.

You ignored the urge to flip out on your boyfriend, asking why he'd continue to tickle you, why he wouldn't warn you. You suddenly felt misplaced, like you had done something wrong.

You didn't even have time to speak before Kai approached, you'd both made eye contact - it was unavoidable.

You hadn't seen your ex-boyfriend much after the breakup, and your constant asking about him ceased when you met Alex.

"Y/N," he took in your appearance. Alot had changed in the while you hadn't seen Kai. Your simple dark clothing was now bright, skimpy.

Your hair was curled - you never did that around him. You wore a highlighter-salmon pink cropped sheer tank top blouse, highwaisted turquoise shorts, an off-white knit cardigan, wedged heels. Large gold hoops hung from your ears.

"Kai," you stated awkwardly, stuffing your thumbs in the pockets of your jean shorts. "What are you doing here?"

He blinked, "G-going with Damon to get something for Elena. I've been inside alot so... Getting fresh air, I guess."

"Yeah," you nodded knowingly. God, this is weird.

Alex was talking to Damon nearby, Kai stared at him - you couldn't tell if the look was of envy or hatred. "He's your new boyfriend, huh?"

"My boyfriend," you clarified not liking the way he said 'new'. "His name is Alex. Quintin."

"You certainly moved on fast."

You squeezed your eyes shut, biting down on your lip to contain the nasty things you could of replied. "Is there something you wanted, Kai?"

"Besides you, well, nothing."

His unexpected outburst sent you reeling, blinking like crazy. Your mouth actually hung open, but you pursed your lips tightly. He could still tell you were shocked. "Kai -"

He ran a hand through his hair, gripping the roots. "Look," he shifted his weight, "I've been wanting to talk to you... I - I kind of miss you, Y/N, is that -"

You stared around the mall, biting your lip. "Kai, we can't - I can't - we can't change what happened."

"Just get rid of him, please." Your stomach was hurting, it was like each and every plea stuck an individual knife through you. "It can be just like how it was before. I promise, Y/N. Just get rid of him, please."

Alex was still smiling, nodding his head to whatever Damon was going on about. Alex got along with Damon, that wasn't to be taken lightly. "Me and Alex... It's not just a fling, Kai. I actually like him."

Kai shook his head furiously, "No, no. No, no you don't, Y/N."

"I do, Kai. I actually do."

He tugged on his jacket, his ego coming back. Rolling his eyes, he stuffed his hands in his pockets, shrugging. "It's not gonna last."

"I'd give it a solid week, maybe month. He's bound to cheat. Ugh, even if he didn't..."

You raked through your long curly hair which gave Kai another rant he felt the need to share aloud.

"And just look at you... I mean, you're still hot. Like really, really hot. But I mean, come on, that's not you. At all."

He was being even more obxiounous, letting his eyes linger over you. "Was that all? Was it really that much to ask? That we could actually be friends, or you know, greet each other like actual human beings? Until next time, Kai."
You went to move past him, but he caught your arm.

"What?" You seethed, clenched jaw.
"I hope you're ready. You know, to see me move on. I mean, you clearly did. The full thing too, public make out sessions -"

"You're a jerk. No girl in her right mind would fall for you, Malachai Parker. She'll be a stupid, teddy bear sized brunette named Karma or Destiny. That's not including her, you know, stage name."

You spit, turning and marching away towards Damon and Alex.

Alex grabbed your hand, rubbing the top. He missed the entire conflict between you and Kai, talking to Damon about something engaging, you guessed.

It was about thirty seconds later when Kai, recovering from your harsh words that left him burning like you'd physically slapped him, headed over to stand next to Damon.

"Nice seeing you, Y/N." Damon did the usual weird eyebrow thing, waggling his fingers.

You gave a small, weary smile. "Bye Dams, I'll text you. And Elena, she looks best in silver."

Feeling Alex's arm snake around your waist, you knew it was time to get going.

"We'll, ah, see you later."

Alex kissed your cheek, still holding you close. "Yeah," you tried to hide your smile. "I'll see you."

You and your boyfriend both turned, walking away. But looking over your shoulder you saw Kai staring dead at you, a pained expression on his face.

You sent him a small, sympathetic frown. 'I'm sorry,' you mouthed, before turning and never looking back.
