He Catches You Singing
k a i + k o l

Kai: Headphones plugged into your ears, you danced around the living room you shared with your boyfriend Kai. You were alone; Kai had some type of business to attend to. Nothing serious, though.

Little did you know your boyfriend had come home early to hear your singing. Kai had never heard you sing, probably due to the fact that you thought you sucked.

"I'm fairly local, I've been around.. I've seen the streets you're walking down!"

Kai was pressed against a wall, peering around the corner with a lazy smile.

"I'm fairly local, good people now. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh!"

With each oh, your head bobbed around and you jumped in the air another time.

The song wasn't that upbeat - you just felt like hopping from couch to couch while singing in your, as Kai would refer to it, angelic voice.

A sudden clapping sent your head snapping to meet its source. "K-Kai, you weren't supposed to be home -"
"You can sing."

"N-no," you stated in an unsure tone.

He wiggled his finger, approaching you with that same lazy smile. "Ah, ah, ah, ah. Singing like that while jumping from couch to couch, that's pretty .. amazing, Y/N."

Stuffing your earbuds in your pocket, you blushed sheepishly. "Shut up, Kai."

Kai wrapped both arms around your legs unexpectedly, with little effort considering your height while standing on the couch. No bending required, you know?

He threw you over his shoulder, making you instantly fall into a never-ending fit of giggles.

"I don't mind shutting up as long as you don't, got it? I like my feisty Y/N and her newly discovered singing talent."

Kol: Standing at the stove, you shook around the pan in your hand. Not shook, but wiggled quite quickly. You were cooking up a vegetable stir-fry to go along with the marinated chicken you had prepared.

Sunlight was streaming through the windows - it was early out. The Mikaelsons did everything fancy, it's the type of people they were. They ate at four in the afternoom with fancy forks.

Normally, you were never the one cooking. Not that Kol did, though. Today you were trying something new. You were focusing really hard on the cooking aspect because you generally burnt everything you touched in the kitchen.

The headphones were helping, you thought. It made it so you weren't as focused on messing up, you know?

"I'm heading straight for the castle," you sang along to your music. "they're gonna make me their queen."

Kol, at his car outside, heard your soft voice and used his inhuman speed to rush up to the door.

The Mikaelson always had a thing for singing - he heard your voice and it immediately sent him running.

"And there's an old man sitting on the throne that's saying that I probably shouldn't be so mean," Kol burst through the door, trying to be casual.

He was your boyfriend, after all. If he didn't notice these changes, well, he wouldn't be a good boyfriend, would he?

"Were you just singing, darling?"

You kept your back to him, cheeks burning as you stared down at the food you were cooking. "Sorry you had to hear that..

"Don't be," Kol said a bit too fast. "Your voice is beautiful, you know."

He snaked his arms around your waist, hugging you from behind. Nuzzling his nose in your neck, he demanded you'd sing the song again for him.

"I'm headed straight for the castle..."
