I know you guys won't like me that much for putting an authors note in but I have to... It won't be a regular occurrence... Hopefully. I just wanted to say thanks for giving this story a go, its the first thing I have written that wasn't for school so don't judge to harshly.

I would love constructive criticism, or any thoughts on what I have done well or can improve. Let me know what you think but if you don't like something I have done, by all means let me know, but don't be overly harsh.

K thanks for reading this and hopefully enjoy.

PROLOGUE - VIOLET'S POV

"No, no, no, not again." I jolted awake. Why? Why wouldn't it stop, it had been a month since that fateful day, but it just kept repeating in my head every night. I couldn't stand it. Watching my parents die before my eyes over, and over again.

(FLASHBACK)

We had been relaxing in our holiday home when they disappeared for several days. At the time I had just thought they were organising something or got stuck somewhere. That all changed when they appeared at 3:00 in the morning yelling and screaming at me that we had to leave now. At the time they were mostly incoherent, and I hadn't understood much. But I complied noticing how distressed they seemed. We never should have left the safety of the cabin.

We were about 100 metres from the cabin just entering the thicker part of the forest when the knife came... All I saw was the glint of silver as it slowly spun hilt of tip, hilt over tip and then my father collapsed, unmoving.

Mother started screaming. "Violet run, Violet run now!!" I did so, to scared to think to do otherwise, but as I realised what I was doing, I turned. Only to see several shadowy figures emerge and converge on my parents, my mother struggled and fought back while they tried to subdue her, while the ones on my father cut out his heart!? "What has this world come to?" I thought as I turned unable to deal with the sight. After a few seconds I turned back, only to see my mothers decapitated body slowly crash to the ground while her head bounced in the other direction. I screamed, but almost immediately cut it off, knowing they would come after me next. I ran blindly, tears streaming down my face, as I sobbed uncontrollably, vowing to get revenge on whomever had destroyed my childhood, and ultimately my life.

(PRESENT)

I felt something running down my face, and realised I had started crying, when I unintentionally revisited the memory again. I was sick of it every single day, the same thing over and over. I couldn't stand it any more. "I will find you whoever and wherever you are, and I will make you pay!" I finished venting my anger at my situation, vowing to come through.

Rising from where I slept I removed the somber thoughts from my mind, knowing it was time to relocate. Again.

Over the last four weeks I had been moving around in our various holiday locations in the area. I'd stay for about a week keeping a low profile and then move again.

"Damn it," I sighed in frustration, I had just realised I'd been to all our vacation locations that I could get to without letting any officials know. I was going to have to find another way to survive without being found.

While I pondered this frustrating dilemma, I considered staying a few more days where I was. Moving slowly through the small cabin I gathered the few belongings I had snagged before running.

I decided it was worth a shot I had nowhere else to go... Right?

Sighing in resignation, I placed my bundle of belongings near the door in case I had to make a quick escape. Walking around the small cabin I looked for something to do. There wasn't much besides trying to remove any traces of my stay so I got started.

First I reorganised the pantry and fridge so at first you wouldn't notice that some of the supplies that had been there were missing. Then I moved into the bedroom straightening all the sheets and pillows the way the maid would have, had she been there. When that was done and I couldn't find anything else I sighed and turned in the tv.

(2 HOURS LATER)

I was almost asleep, bored from the continuous shows on tv, when suddenly I was alert, I had sensed something, there was something at the edges of my senses I just couldn't pinpoint it exactly. As I turned down the tv knowing there could be danger. It came to me, I could here the faint sound of tyres on gravel. Don't ask me how I knew, I had always had extremely good senses. Instantly switching off the tv, I stood making sure there was no trace of my presence. Then I grabbed my bag.

Making my way out the back door, I looked around, making sure there was no one around, there wasn't. So I made a quick dash for the tree line.

When I turned around I saw the black car slowly approaching the house in the distance, knowing I had to get away I turned around, and began walking into the trees.
