CHAPTER 2 - JACKSON'S POV
Being one of the stronger telepath's had its perks. Of course I shouldn't just say telepaths that was just a generalisation. There was a whole range of powers here with us at the moment; ranging from empaths, to telepaths who could just read minds, to others who could control others minds, to others who could even talk to and understand animal communication, including a lot of other different skills and variants, along with people who had multiple of the above.
So as I said before just calling us telepath's was a bit misleading but for now we didn't have anything better to go with.
All these thoughts raced through my head briefly as I barged into Luke's office. He was one of the only ones stronger than me and had the responsibility of running the group, keeping us educated, trained and in line from justice.
As soon as I walked in I knew this wasn't going to go anywhere. He sat in his wheelie chair spinning around muttering words I couldn't make out. He had is head in his hands looking utterly confused.
As I moved closer I could make out the words "A gun, why a gun?" Muttered over and over again.
"Luke."
"Wha-, oh it's you Jackson, come on in." He said.
"Did you just get that mental scream?" I asked curious about the answer.
"Yeah, of course, I was actually just trying to figure out what it was, I heard a massive scream and the all I got was and image of a gun barrel and I almost blacked out. It was quite scary; I'm trying to figure out who it was. We have no one in the field that strong and would have thought we could have detected that kind of power." What he was saying made complete sense they were some of the questions I had been trying to answer. But the fact that one of our strongest was confused was a bit worrying.
My face must have been showing my confusion and worry as Luke interrupted my thoughts by saying; "Don't worry, we'll figure it out. We just need to send out a search party, find the person and if possible recruit them."
"Very well, would you like me to gather a small search party and head out?" I asked already knowing the answer, as this was what I did best.
"Of course, thanks."
"We'll keep in touch." I replied gesturing to my head to show that I meant mentally.
"Ok." Was all he said before I walked out, already sending out the call for the search party to assemble in the front room.
VIOLET'S POV
I sat up groggily, and nearly screamed out loud before I remembered what happened, and I bit my lip instead in case they were still around.
When the coppery taste of blood hit my tongue I freaked, until I realised I had broken the skin on my lip from bitting so hard, trying to mask the pain that was radiating from somewhere in my shoulder. Gritting my teeth against the pain I looked down. Almost fainted form seeing the amount of blood that covered my upper body. It looked endless.
Feeling around softly, I tried to locate the source, so I would be able to staunch the flow.
Once again I nearly screamed out loud as my fingers brushed and extremely tender spot. Any sort of pressure nearly had me falling unconscious just to escape the pain.
But I knew that if I didn't get up and move they would com back for me. Whoever they were.
But to do that I was going to have to staunch the blood flow, and to do that I was going have to deal with the pain. 'Here goes nothing.' I mused to myself as I grabbed a nearby stick with my working arm. I cleaned as much of the dirt off as I could and stuck it between my teeth. Knowing the stick would muffle my inevitable scream I pressed my fingers down on the wound and held them there.
I sat like that for about 5 minutes just adjusting to the pain I was going through, but eventually it all kind of numbed out. Standing up, I wobbled slightly, but then I regained my bearings.
I then preceded to push my way deeper into the trees trying to stay hidden.
After about 10 minutes I felt woozy because the blood was slowly dripping through my fingers. I sat down, leaning against the trunk of one of the many trees, I looked for something, anything, that I could use as a bandage.
There was nothing.
I felt myself slipping, into that state; of darkness, and death. But there was nothing I could do. I sat down, in a nook, between tree roots. Resigning myself to my fate.
I had tried my best. There was nothing I could do now.
And then I lost consciousness.
