The Crash

Nicole was looking out the window of her father's truck; she was with her parents and her older sister on their way to go eat. As Nicole looked out the window, she saw her reflection. Staring back at her was dull brown eyes, straight brown, almost black hair, and a pale face of acne. While she was looking out the window of the old truck, she heard her family around her. She could hear her dad on the phone, her sister and her mom arguing over something that was most likely incredibly stupid, and the radio turned up on her dad's favorite station. When Nicole got bored of looking out the window, she grabbed her phone and her headphones so she could listen to some music and not the bluegrass playing over the radio.

When she started scrolling through her music, a twitter notification came up on her screen. When she looked at it, she couldn't help but smile, she always smiled at Luke's tweets. Nicole unlocked her phone and went on twitter and saw Luke Hemmings Tweeted: Super excited about everything that is happening, very grateful and I hope you guys are excited also :-)

After favoriting and re-tweeting his tweet, she went back to looking through her music. Basically, her whole library of songs was Maroon 5, One Direction, or of course, 5 Seconds of Summer. After she hit shuffle, Heartbreak Girl started playing through the headphone, and she lost herself in her music like she always ends up doing. By the time that Luke and Calum started doing their cover of Rolling in the Deep by Adele, Nicole's dad pulled into the parking lot of Red Robins and everyone got out of the truck.

Dinner was pretty quiet like always, Nicole never really liked talking much, but her older sister, Kayla loved to talk. Dinner was filled with Nicole's parents talking to Kayla or Kayla arguing with them, they gave up on getting Nicole to talk a long time ago. Usually Nicole will only talk to her best friends, or if someone actually tries to talk to her and keep the conversation going.

She couldn't help but smile when her best friend texted her, freaking out over something. As she looked at the text, it told her to look at the top trends on twitter, so when she did she almost screamed and cried in joy of what she saw, #5soswwatour #wwatour #5sos. 5 Seconds of Summer was going to open for One Direction again? She just got tickets to the WWA Tour about a week ago and even though they cost her more than 275 each, it was diffidently going to be worth it now.

Dinner went by quickly after Nicole first saw the trends, so it only felt like minutes later when they were getting back inside of the truck. At first, she thought the trends were fake, some fans being bored and trying to trend something, but then she saw Michael's tweet, then Niall's, then the official 5SOS account. When Nicole was looking through her twitter, her dad's phone rang and he answered it, looking in the backseat to find his quiet daughter practically dying of a happy attack.

After Nicole recovered enough to talk, she was talking 100 miles per hour. Not used to hearing her say this much, everyone started looking at her.

"What was that Nikki?" her mom asked.

Nicole rolled her eyes at the nickname, she always hated it, but her mom loved calling her that so she let her have her fun. "5 Seconds of Summer is opening for One Direction!"

"That's nice dear." Her mom said turning back around.

Nice? How about no? Nice was seeing a shirtless Derek on Teen Wolf or a cute Larry moment at an interview or concert. This was not nice. This was life changing. Luke and Zayn being in the same place at the same time was life changing, not nice or cool or cute.

"Luke Hemmings and Zayn Malik being in the same place as me is not nice, it's a miracle!" She exclaimed. "Honestly, those two being in the same place at the same time could start the apocalypse if we aren't careful." She muttered, crossing her arms.

"Can you please be quiet? I'm trying to talk on the phone!" Her dad bayed while driving.
Nicole bit her lip and looked down; this is why she didn't like to talk. She knew that she would annoy someone when she talked; she was normally too anxious to talk to anyone, even her friends most of the time.

While her dad was yelling, he was looking in the rear-view mirror, not noticing he was drifting into the other lane until it was too late. Nicole looks up the second that she hears her mom and sister scream; she looked up just in enough time to see the semi-truck coming right for them. Her dad drops his phone and pulls on the steering wheel in an attempt to move out of the way, but it was too late.

The other driver was trying to stop, but only managed to nearly flip over his truck. They crashed right into each other, and the semi almost ran right over them during the crash. The truck Nicole was in flipped over a few times before the semi truck actually hit it, completely crushing the front of their truck and smashing in the sides.

The only thing that Nicole could see was blood and glass. She looked around, but her vision was already fading. Her sister was knocked out cold and her parents... they were gone, completely crushed. That's probably where all of the blood came from. She started looking around again and tried to move her hand, but it was stuck. She looked down, and in the arm was a giant shard of glass. It wasn't only one piece of glass, her arm was covered, and she looked down at her legs and saw that the front seat was basically on top of her.

In the distance, she could hear sirens going off. She looked to where the window should have been and saw a large piece of metal covering half of her door. The last thing she saw before she passed out was her shattered phone in her other hand. Somehow, she managed to keep a hold of it the whole time. Nicole looked at her cracked screen when she saw it light up and there was a picture that Luke had just tweeted of himself, it was him singing on stage while playing his guitar with purple and red lights in the background. As Nicole slowly drifted into the darkness, she was glad that the last thing she saw wasn't the crushed bodies of her parents or the bloodied and unconscious body of her sister, but one of the only people who could actually make her really smile.
