He hated this weather, it was suppose to be sunny, it was July and suppose to be the middle of Summer, but here in Plain Boring Dundee, you wouldn't have guessed. As the rain hit the ground hard, he pulled his hood over his now soaking wet hair and made his way to what Dundee called their City Centre.
He would have taken the bus, to save himself from getting wet, but to be honest he grudged paying so much for such a little commute. He did love to walk, walking gave him time to think. He preferred to walk alone, no one to bother him, except his own brain, which always seem to be on overdrive. His walks always seem to take him down to the City's waterfront, where he loved to look out at the river and watch the waves crash into each other. it always seemed so peaceful for him, but not today.
It was cold and wet and the rain seem to hit him harder, the wind seemed colder the closer to the waterfront he got.
He hadn't had a necessary reason to leave the comforts of his flat and trail himself to the centre in the pouring rain, but if he was honest with himself he did it for the company, not that he knew anyone, and most people here wouldn't give him a second glance.
The people who did were either his colleagues or his students
He wasn't Very sociable, but he wasn't unfriendly, he just didn't like to be in large groups of people, it made him uncomfortable, and he rarely went for drinks with colleagues.
He was a loner, some might say, and he would agree with you he was, but that was just the way he was and the way he liked it, he got along well with his colleagues, and his students loved him, but he didn't have anyone close to him he would call a friend. None of it bothered him, he loved to sit and read and grade papers, and work on lessons for his next lectures.
He didn't mind being alone, he prefered it, if he was honest, but everyone feels lonely now and again. So he would take a walk to the Centre, grab a coffee and sit and read.
It didn't matter that no one knew him or he doesn't know them, he still felt less alone.
So today his reason was to feel less alone for a small length of time.
But he hadn't took into consideration just how hard it was raining and when chosen what to put on his feet, he shouldn't have chosen converse.
As he stood in yet another puddle created by the heavy downpour, he cursed himself for leaving his flat in the first place. Arguing with himself whether or not to make his way back home. He came to the conclusion that he was already out. Why not just keep going. He wasn't far now from his favourite coffee shop. With a book in the inside of his coat pocket he carried on, even through the cold bite at his face and gloves less hands.
