INTRO: You and Robbie are really close friends, and you both like each other. His best friend, Jake, thinks that when Robbie brings you to a school play that his cousin was in, it was to get you and Jake together, and to make Freya, his ex jealous...not everything is as it seems.

"That was amazing," you smiled up at Robbie. He grinned as he gave his cousin her bouquet of flowers.  You smiled down at Maria. "You were such a good Wendy!"

Maria laughed and smelled her flowers. "Thank you. I learned from the best!" she said looking up at Robbie. He laughed and excused himself to go to the restroom. You nodded and sat down next to Jake. Realizing you were being rude by not talking to him, you asked him, "So can Robbie sing like that?"

Jake laughed and shook his head. "No, that he cannot."

You laughed along with him. "I can't wait to watch him preform sometime soon. So how long have you known each other?"

   "Oh, a long time."

"Where did you meet?" you asked.

"School," he said, leaning in closer and lowering his voice. "Listen, I have this rugby event coming up. I'm not trying to win over a girl or anything, but it'd be nice to not go stag for once. The team is relentless with their jokes for weeks...so what I guess I'm saying, is I don't want commitment or anything, but would you go with me?"

Was he asking what you thought he was asking? "Jake, I'm here with Robbie...your friend..."

"Yeah, but you know he brought you to get back with Freya, right?" he nodded over to where you saw Robbie talking to none other than Freya. "So, how much would you charge for a date, nothing afterward."

Your eyes went wide. Jake quickly commented; "Unless you want something after!" With that, you slapped him so hard that your palm stung.

You slipped out of the theater with tears threatening to fall. The guy that you like must've told your friend something other than that you were just friends...Jake thought you were something of a slut! When you made it to Robbie's car, you found it locked. As the tears fell, you pulled out your phone and went over to the bus stop nearby.

The bus driver grumbled as he gave you your change for a five and you sat down next to a woman with earbuds in her pierced ears. You ignored a call from Robbie. Next came a text. Where are you? it read. You angrily swiped at a tear. The woman next to you pulled out her earbuds.

"Are you okay?" she kindly asked.

You shook your head. "I'm fine."

"Did you know 'I'm fine' the most told lie in the English language?"

You choked back a sob.  "Oh, honey, don't cry," she pleaded.

"I'm fine," you repeated.

She let out a small laugh. "Please don't add to the miss-use of that phrase."

You looked up and saw that your stop was next and sighed as your phone chimed. I thought you were dying in the bathroom, so I sent Maria in there, and she said it was empty. Jake said you were upset when you left. Where are you?!  The woman next to you looked at you, concern glazing over her blue eyes. "Boy problems." I answered her gaze.

She started a monologue on how bad boys were today and apparently, when they were 13, they should get shock collars instead of shutting up like you wanted her to. Your phone rang with an 'incoming text' that read: If you don't reply, I'm calling the police, Y/N. I'm worried.

You quickly replied: Since you told your friend I was a hooker, you must have the wrong idea about us. I found a ride home. I didn't realize the role I was supposed to play tonight, Robbie. Have fun with Freya. And THATS what Jake said?! He has issues.

Robbie called you, but you declined it; not wanting to talk about this around the woman who had major issues with boys. When you got off the bus by the park, your phone chimed. Did you know your mom and dad have a GPS installed in your phone?

You looked over and saw a dark figure: Robbie. He was coming closer and you narrowed your eyes. "I bet you think I'm creepy now, huh?" he said.

You rolled your eyes. "That's not the only thing I'm thinking about you."

Robbie sighed. "So what's your side?"

"My side?" your eyebrows shot up.

"Yes," Robbie said.

"What about your side?" you questioned.

"My side is simple. I went to go to the bathroom and then Freya pulled me into a conversation with an old friend. The next thing I know, I can't find you and Jake couldn't either. Your turn." he nodded. He rubbed his temples.

"I'm sure Jake told you." you said, wiping your eyes.

"That's the thing," Robbie sighed, "I'm conflicted. Jake told me you saw me and Freya talking, got jealous, said a few choice words and left."

"THATS WHAT HE SAID?!" you gaped, appalled.

"What?" Robbie asked. "Does this have something to do with the hooker text?"

You nodded. "He asked me to go on a date with him and asked how much I charged for this. Or anything after."

Robbie's ears went red. Then he shook his head. "Jake wouldn't do that." he said as if trying to assure himself.

"Of course he wouldn't tell you. He didn't want you to be mad." you explained.

"Are you trying to say that my best friend would betray me?" he slowly said.

You jumped in. "No, I just want to know why he lied."

"I want to believe you, Y/N, I really do." Robbie murmured.

"Wanting and doing are two entirely different things, Robbie." You pulled out your phone, ready to call your dad.

"Y/N," Robbie started, "it's just his story matches up more than yours. He's my best friend, and you may be..."

"Lying?" you gasped. Robbie shook his head, but it was too late. As the tears fell once more, I hated that he had so much power over my emotions. It was quiet as you called your dad.

"Dad?" you asked when he picked up.

 "Yeah, kitten?" he said.

"Can you pick me up from the park?"

"Sure." he said at the same time Robbie said, "I can give you a ride home."

You sighed and hung up. "For the record, I may be a lot of things, but I'm NOT lying. But I'll add it to the list. I'm a self-centered shallow snob, and a liar who needs validation. Thanks."

Robbie held up a hand. "Y/N stop. You aren't any of those. I'm conflicted between my best friend and you. Surely you can understand?"

You channeled a confident voice. "Yes, I can understand that trust is the center of everything. So you can understand that I can't be friends -or whatever we were- with someone who won't believe me. And," you saw your dad come close, "what Jake said to me? That's not okay." As you got in the car, you muttered, "Please don't call me."

Your dad hesitated, looking at Robbie's torn face. "Please go dad." So he did.

  He looked at you. "Honey?"

"I hate boys." you uttered before breaking into tears.

  "He hurt you?!"

You shook your head. "No. He just hurt my heart."
