flashback
luke climbed into his car the next morning, dreading going to school. he hates mondays. he sighed and put his key in the ignition and went to adjust his mirror and noticed it was missing.
"what the fuck?"
in its place, he found a note.
"look behind you"
"that would be a lot easier if my mirror were still there!" luke shouted as he turned around to be met with a smiling michael.
"jesus christ, how did you get into my car?"
michael held up a spare set of keys that were supposed to be at calum's house for emergencies.
"okay, kid, very funny. i need my mirror back."
"you have to find it first," michael said with a smirk as he gestures back to the note.
luke grabbed it and turned it over and read the back.
"remember the first time we met?"
"what does this mean? i don't-" luke said as he turned back to michael, only to be met with an empty back seat and an open side door. he got out of his seat and closed the door as he saw michael's car race off. luke jumped back into his car hurriedly and followed michael to the side of the road where they first met. the road sign on the side of the road had a balloon hanging from it. it had a note that said "pop me" on it. luke popped the balloon and smiled at the sight of his rear view mirror being inside.
"finally!"
luke looked at the mirror and noticed he wasn't the only one in the reflection. he smiled as michael placed his hands on luke's hips and turned him around.
"luke, i don't want you to look back anymore. i don't want you to let your past haunt you. i know being around melanie must be really difficult for you and i'm so sorry and i hope this makes it better." michael paused. "luke, will you be my boyfriend?"
"yes, you dumb shit," luke said quickly as he kissed michael.
"how did you get the mirror in the balloon michael?"
"practice, babe," michael said with a wink.
