Chapter 8 - Fries Before Guys.

Emily's POV.

My day so far hasn't been so great. It has been the worst one of all. Well, after Mr. Hot Shot's little drama by the staircase, I was furious. I don't know why but I just felt disgusted, with him and with myself. So I turned around and walked right into a wall, hence bumming my nose. But coach won't excuse me from volleyball because my nose wasn't red enough for her to see. Yay high school.

And so I played that damn match and a ball hit me in the face right above my lip and hence the grumpiness shot up. Add almost falling of the stairs on the way out from the school and a twisted ankle and you can remake Zombieland with me on the hunt for a certain bad boy's blood.

Rose dropped me off at Beans And Brews after school and I promised her a movie night for a ride. The bell at the edge of the door rang as I entered and I quickly made my way towards the lockers to grab my apron and notepad. I don't see Mrs. Adams or Lucas anywhere which is weird considering Mrs. Adams is always at the café and Lucas comes here directly after college and he is usually done with his classes by noon and sometimes goes back at six.

I start a fresh pot of coffee since we were out of that and quickly dust the counter off bread crumbs and cupcake frosting. I hear the bell ring and look up to find Natalie, Ella and Lillian swaying their hips like they were the cover model for Cosmo, coming inside. I proceed to take a guy's order just as Charlotte goes to Natalie's table.

"Hi! Are you ready to order yet?" I ask the blonde in the sweetest and sickest voice I could ever muster.

"I'll have a small cappuccino and a blueberry muffin, thanks."

"Alright, coming right up."

I turn around and Charlotte comes towards me rolling her eyes and making a gagging sound which makes me laugh and Natalie to look at me. I blow her a kiss and make my way towards the kitchen to get the guy a muffin while Charlotte makes the coffees.

The next two hours are spent the same way. Mrs. Adams and Lucas slip in at about three and so the work load decreases but sometimes I wonder whether we're serving customers or giant survivors of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I know I should be grateful for having gotten this amazing job but cut me some slack.

The worst day of my sixteen years of existence takes the ugliest turn when my eyes meet a certain blue ones. Dylan waves at me and make his way towards me while I quickly turn around and literally run to take some customers' orders. I ask Lucas to go see what the hell Dylan wants and he winks at me and grabs a notepad and makes his way to the devil's table. I hear a bell ring and collect the trays from Mrs. Adams and take them to the customers and then make another round to collect the money and put it in the cash register. Lucas comes up to me and shakes his head and points towards Dylan. I roll my eyes and make my way towards him, groaning like a hungry bear.

"Welcome to Beans and Brews, what can I get for you?"

"Go out with me tomorrow night." He says as if it's the most casual thing to ask the girl who hates you out on a date.

"Sorry, we don't serve that here." I tell him and turn around to walk away but am caught between his arms as they encircle my waste before I even had the chance to take more than two steps.

"If you don't want to get hurt by a pencil, I suggest you leave me alone before I stick this pencil in your eyeball."

Completely unaffected by my attempt at a threat, he smirks and tucks strands of my hair, which managed to escape the hair tie, behind my ear.

"So I guess I'll pick you up tomorrow at 8?"

"Tyler will make sure you never walk again if you turn up on my doorstep. Stay away from me Dylan, please."
