My mouth stood agar, "what?" I managed to mumble.
Then I heard someone call for him; "Luke, let's go back," someone said his voice sounding monotone, a dead monotone, it gave me the creeps.
"I'm coming Cedric," Luke yelled back.
Then the boy came into view, it was the guy that had been sitting at the same table as Nathan, his twin brother Cedric. Cedric looked at Luke expectantly, but then his gaze fell on me. His dead eyes widened slightly upon seeing me, then they went back to their normal sliver like selves. It seemed like a quick emotion had went through them as he had looked upon me. It looked like sympathy. As if he knew I was going to experience something awfull. Then without meeting my eyes a second time he told me,"Joyce Sanguilamiae, Nathan is looking for you."
"Well, then he can keep looking forever, cause he is not going to find me." I said angrily.
Cedric looked taken aback and now he looked me in the eyes. It felt like he was searching something in my eyes.
"But wait.. How do you know my name? Even my full name? I never told you my full name." I asked hesitantly as I took step back. I felt a bit violated, how could he know something so personal?
"that will be all." Cedric said, his monotone returned and he retreated, dragging Luke along.

I just stood there looking at their backs as they walked away. How did I even get myself into this mess? Well, it could always be worse, I guess.

After a while I decided to go back to class, I had missed two hours already.

The class was Chemistry. The teacher looked at me with a questioning look, "why are you so late ms. Sanguilamiae?"

"dentist," I simply said whilst shrugging.

"okay," the teacher said unsure what to do next. "ehm well go sit down, and I will assign your project partners, keep in mind that these project partners last for the first half of the year."

The whole class groaned.

my name was one of the last ones called out, and the group, who would've thought my worst nightmare would become reality. Cause yeah, I'm going to spend the next half year doing a project with the guy I wanted to avoid the most. Nathan.

"The last group is: Nathan, Luke, Danny and Joy." The teacher said.

I slammed my head against the table, was he serious? I stood up, grabbed my bag and started to walk towards the door of the classroom. Just a little further and I would be free. 5 metres maybe 3. I was so close, but then someone grabbed me. I tried to shake the person off of me, but it was no use.

He had me, and he wasn't letting go. I turned ready to hit him in the face, when I saw Luke was holding me. "Joy, you can't leave," He said sternly.

"watch me," I growled trying to walk away again, however he held me in place.

"Joy, this is your group for half a year, you can't just keep skipping it. This is your life. Besides Danny and I are also in the group, he can't do anything but annoy you."

I sighed, he was right.

"come on," he said steering me back towards the table.

Danny and Nathan were already sitting on the table. "are you even in this class?" I asked Nathan accusingly. "I haven't seen you in any of my classes yesterday."

"I was ill yesterday," He said.

I silently sat down, observing the class room and our table. Luke was fidgeting uncomfortably, whilst Nathan was looking at him weirdly and Danny was bobbing his head to some music he was playing in his headphones and also tapping his  in no-finger misfits gloves covered fingers along to the beat (or in his case heavy drums) on the table.

"What are you listening to?" I asked Danny.

A questioning look flashed through Danny's eyes as he pushed his headphones away from one of his ears. "what," he said.

"What are you listening to?" I asked again.

"Halestorm,"he responded.

"wow," I said, "I love them"

"Yeah," he said in disbelieve, "what's your favourite song?"

"Mz. Hyde, definitely," I responded.

His eyebrows shot up and he poked Nathan with his elbow, "Dude ya sure this one is yours?" he asked.

"oh yeah, why?"Nathan said agitatedly.

"Because I think she isn't.. well, that she isn't your type," he said mumbling that last part.

"Well then who's type is she," Nathan asked him.

"Mine," Danny said smirking proudly.

I just laughed at that, a giggly laugh. Not because I like either of them, NO, but because they had just given me the solution to the problem at hand. If I was "claimed" by Nathan, and that meant that none of the guys could make a move on me, then I would just have to make a move on them. And find someone brave enough to return the favour. I'm sure there are some boys who don't take Nathan's words as gospel. And there were two maybe three candidates right in front of me; Danny, Luke and Cedric. And yes this might sound harsh, I mean playing with someone's feelings like this, but isn't that what this Nathan has been doing with nearly half the school's girls? Someone has to teach him a lesson, and desperate times call for desperate measures.

"So Danny, what other bands do you listen to?" I asked leaning in whilst flirtatiously fluttering my eyes at him.

Danny in turn also leaned in, his smirk deepening, then he put his hand underneath his chin, "Hmm, let me see, Nirvana, Metallica, Three Days Grace, Green Day and Skillet are some very good bands."

"Yeah, definitely," I agreed.

"Okay favourite Green Day song," I shot at him.

"Boulevard of broken dreams, definitely," he answered.

"Oh," I said, "personally I like 'know your enemy' better, ooh or maybe 'Jesus of suburbia'."

"yeah those are very good too," he said now his grin seemed to be up to his ears. Since during the conversation we had been moving closer and closer to each other, and now our noses were almost touching. I glanced at Nathan who was red up to his ears and it looked like he was about to explode, which he did.. because two minutes after I had thought that, he slammed his fist on the table.

Danny and I looked towards him, scared by the sound of his fists slamming into the table. I looked at Luke as he whispered something under his breath. I couldn't completely understand what he said, but it sounded foreign, or ancient, like Latin. However whatever Luke did, it worked. Since not a second later Nathan was calm again and just sat there not moving an inch. Danny and I still looked taken aback, but that didn't seem to matter to him.

"Stop staring and go back to work," Luke said to the people behind us, and well basically the whole class. Not that I noticed it, but there were a lot of gazes directed at us, I immediately started to squirm as I noticed them. Luckily most of them turned away after Luke had said this.

"Shall we start with our project," Nathan asked solemnly.

We all just nodded, nobody was in for another table strike.
