Aparently "soon" was not soon at all. MAD had us at a stand still. She was quiet for weeks. Not saying anything, not doing anything, not sending anymore messages. I shouldn't be this anxious over someone I don't even know but somehow I feel like my life is being threatened. My life and Louise who sure as hell didn't deserve this blackmail. I haven't been eating lately and the nurses are becoming concerned. Tammy, however, does not care. She barges in my room and demands that I take her pills.

"Rise and shine fruit cake!"

She slams the pills on the desk besides the door, then the cup of water. Although my eyes are closed I can feel her starring at me waiting for me to move.

"You're early" I say.

"That's because..."

I heard shuffling coming from her direction and I opened my eyes to see what it is that she was doing. She pulled a clipboard out from behind her back and flipped through pages.

"... You have an appointment with Dr.Duran"

Dr.Duran is the name of the psychiatrist here at Daylight. When the patients are acting "unusual" they send them to the psychiatrist to be "fixed".

Notice the air quotes.

"I don't need to go to him I'm fine" I said.

She angles her face back to the clipboard.

"Well it says here that you haven't been eating and you haven't left your room for days."

Yup pretty much.

"That's not true. I've been extremely social"
I said to her but she didn't buy it.

"Mm-h-mm. Tell that to Duran"

She walked out and shut the door behind her.

Through the window I could see her walking to her station.

Halfway down the hallway she stopped and came back to my room.
" I forgot to have her take the damn pills" she mumbled to herself.

"You're a bad nurse. You should be fired" I said.

She gave me her signature death stare as I got up from my bed.

If looks could kill.

I downed the pills and swallowed the water.
She checks to see if I've actually swallowed them in her usual harsh way.

"Ow! God! Tammy just a little harder and your gonna rip off my jaw!"

Like I mentioned before this woman doesn't care.

"5:15. Be in his office at 5:15"
This time she walks out of my room and successfully makes it down the hallway.

•••••

The clock struck 5:15 and I found my self at a wooden door labeled Dr.Duran I gave it two knocks and the door swung open.

"Hello!" He said. His voice was booming and made other kids down the hall scream and cry.

"Hi" I said.

He gestured for me to enter and I did. His room was cold and dark but light enough to make out the slightest colors. The room was a lot bigger than the rooms we were given which didn't make much sense because he only had three pieces of furniture, a chair, a brown couch and a potted plant.

Dr.Duran was a large sturdy man with a beard that reached the top of his chest. Many may confuse him for a mountain man but he sort of reminded me of a gladiator. His hair had gray streaks and was slicked back giving him a somewhat professional look.

"So you are..."
He looked down at the clipboard in his hand as I sat on the couch.

"Scarlett Webber?" He said

"Yes"

"okay let's get into it"
I waited patiently for him as he flipped through a file about me.

"Okay so you are one of the patients with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Alright Scarlett what triggered this disability?"

I explained what had happened and how it had affected me. It was really uncomfortable.

He poked and probed at my life to see how he can help it. Help me. Every question was really personal and it made me feel naked and alone.

If I was actually listening, his advice probably would have hit me but I couldn't concentrate on what he was saying. All I understood is that if I didn't start eating they would have to put me under " ultra surveillance" which means I will be put in a straight jacket, locked in a room and force fed.

That's the real reason people go crazy. Going under "ultra surveillance", and being treated like a caged beast.

I want no part of that.

"Aaaaaaand that's time. I better see some progress out of you scarlett." Said Dr.Duran.

My eyes became wide with surprise.

How long had I been out?

How long was this man talking?

How did he not know I wasn't paying attention?

This whole place is full of unaware people.

"Oh...uh. Yeah...okay" I murmured.

We meet at the door frame to say our last good bye's and he slaps me hard on the back and wishes me a good day.

He's lucky I'm not one of the other crazies in here because I would have clawed his eyes out. I've seen it happen, nurses walking around with scars on their faces. It's quite funny.
