I told my dad later when I got home from school, I could tell he knew by the look in his eyes when I walked into the room. Mom came running over and took me into her arms, my bag hit the floor as I engulfed her into my arms as I cried into her shoulder. I finally had let in the thoughts of me going overseas to be a Marine, but it was tearing me apart at the thought of leaving my girlfriend of three years, Kenzie.

God, I was a lucky ass guy to call her my girl. I had bumped into her one day at a Starbucks after coming back from a run, so she kinda faceplanted into my sweaty chest. I thought that would send her into a yelling fit like some girls i know would do but not her, she giggled and apologized for not paying attention. That's what hooked me to her and it's what won me her heart. I could be myself with her and not a tough guy, myself, just regular Brody. I pulled away from my mom and grabbed my bag again, I quickly jogged up to my room for privacy and maybe to tell Kenzie the truth.

I tossed my bag into my bean bag chair and flopped backwards onto my bed, I quickly pulled out my phone and texted Kenzie:

Me: Hey baby, home from school!

Kenzie: Yay, when should I come over?!

I couldn't help but smile as I imagined how excited she is, replying back quickly:

Me: Now, I want to see you before dad throws the party!

Kenzie: I'll be right there baby!

I slipped my phone back in my pocket and grinned like a fool, I felt like the luckiest guy on the planet when I was with her... Man I was going to miss that with her..
