"I'm not fragile you know? I can sit up," I addressed Steve who, at the moment, was trying to hold me down on a bench on the jet.
"I just want to make sure you're alright," he reasoned, stroking my hair back.
"I smiled at him, "I understand that, but there are others who could use your help," I muttered brushing some blood off of his cheek.
"I've done all I can for Clint," he whispered back.
"Yes you have. But, Bruce still seems pretty shaken up over the whole ordeal," I nodded towards Bruce, "and since you won't let me get up," I trailed off, hoping to get my way.
"Fine," he huffed," you stay here, maybe rest a little," he suggested and walked away. I sighed and leaned my head back listening intently to the conversation unfolding.
"Thor: report on the Hulk," Natasha demanded.
"The gates of Hell are filled with the screams of his victims," Thor reported with pride. My eyes ripped open, glaring at Thor almost immediately, as I scoffed. Bruce deflated, as Nat and Steve glared at him as well.
"That's not something everyone wants to hear, Thor," I grumbled.
"B-b-but not the screams of the dead of course," Thor stuttered, Bruce put his head in his hands, "wounded screams, mainly, grunt ice complaining, and tales of sprained deltoids, and," he trailed off realizing he wasn't helping.
"Hey Banner, Dr. Cho's on her way in from Seoul. Is it okay if she sets up in your lab," Tony asked from the pilot's seat, I decided to close my eyes and lean back again.
* * * *
"Cas, get your ass of my plane," Tony shook me awake.
"Fu-"
"Lab's all set up boss," Maria announced, cutting me off.
"Oh I'm not the boss," Tony turned toward us, "he is," Tony gestured towards Steve, causing Steve and I share a look of surprise. "I just pay for everything, design everything, and make everyone look cooler," Tony sighed, pushing himself off the chair.
I rolled my eyes, then looked back to Hill," what's the word on Strucker?"
"NATOs got him," she replied.
Steve helped me stand, wrapping an arm around my waist," The two Enhanced," Steve asked as we exited the jet.
"Wanda, and Pietro Maximoff," she handed over her tablet, "twins. Orphaned at 10 when a shell collapsed their apartment building," she spouted out as we walked into Avengers Tower. "Sokovia's had a rough history. It's nowhere special, but it's on the way to everywhere special."
"Their abilities," I asked, handing the tablet back.
"He's got increased metabolism, and improved thermal homeostasis. Her thing is neuroelectric interfacing, telekinesis, and mental manipulation," Maria's scientific explanation rolled off of her tongue at a fast pace. Steve looked at the both of us completely lost. "He's fast and she's weird," Maria said in a monotone.
"Well, they're going to show up again," Steve sighed, calling the elevator, never once letting go of me. I mentally rolled my eyes at how he was treating me like a porcelain doll.
"Agreed," Maria agreed, "file says they volunteered for Strucker's experiments," she added, sounding disgusted.
"Right," Cap grumbled as he helped me onto the elevator, "what kind of monster would let a German scientist experiment on them to protect their country?"
"We're not at war, Captain," Maria argued.
"They are," Steve ended the conversation as the elevator doors closed.
