Hermione Granger woke up on September 1st to the sun shining on her face. She smiled and got out of bed excited to get back to her true home. McGonagall had asked her, Harry and Ron to come back to complete their 7th year at Hogwarts after the war. Of course she happily accepted, the boys however, decided to become Aurors instead of complete their education, much to the dismay of their best friend.
No matter, they would owl each other every moment they got and would visit often. This year, she decided was going to be the best year yet.
Not many of the students decided to come back, but she would have Ginny, Neville, and Luna to keep her company. She was also thrilled because McGonagall had chosen her to be head girl this year, though she didn't know who head boy was, it said 'to be determined' on the letter. She would find out on the train.
The train! She needed to get going if she didn't want to be late. Hermione threw on jeans and a t-shirt and grabbed her bags.
"Come on Crookshanks!" She called to her orange cat who jumped into the carrier just as Hermione shut it closed and ran out the door.
She took a taxi to Kings Cross and ran through the barrier just as the conductor was yelling 'one minute'. Hermione jumped on and walked into the hall of compartments just as the train whistled and jerked out of the station.
"Hermione!" She heard a voice yell from behind her as she caught a glimpse of red hair before a pair of arms grabbed her from behind. "I thought you weren't going to make it!"
"Sorry Gin," Hermione turned around and embraced her friend in a hug. "I woke up late."
"Come to our compartment, Luna and Neville are already there."
"I have to go to the heads compartment remember?" She smiled at her friend, "I get to see who head boy is."
"Ooh... I hope he's hot." Her friend nudged her.
"Ginny!" Hermione fought back a smile and told Ginny that she'd catch her later. As she walked down to the Head compartment she thought about what her friend said. 'I hope he's hot'. She shook her head and laughed at Ginny's way of thinking.
As she got to the compartment she stopped outside the door, the person inside had drawn the curtain so no one could see inside. Why was she so nervous? Maybe it was because head boy and girl would be sharing common rooms for house unity this year... Maybe.
She held her breathe and walked in.
