PART ONE

~Chapter One~
The sun's fluorescent fingers poked between the white curtains of Bambi Sinclair's bedroom, reaching out towards the black and white duvet on her bed.
Bambi slept peacefully under the covers, her face buried deep into her pillow. The occasional mumble escaped her slightly open mouth but was muffled by the fluffy fabric. Her body lay curled into a fetal position, her hair sprawled out in all directions. Her green eyes fluttered open as a big fluffy creature leaped onto her bed and began licking her face.
"Good morning Deuce." She giggled groggily as she turned over to run her fingers through the husky's soft and silvery fur. He poked at her with his moist, black nose. "Here to wake me up for my Geography test today hmm?"
After a few kisses to his muzzle Bambi forced her beloved dog back onto the carpeted floor. She swung her feet over the edge of the bed as she sat up. She fumbled around before finding her thick rimmed glasses on the bedside table and sliding them onto her face. She released a sigh before slipping on her slippers and walking out of the room.
"Lovely day here in Bradford isn't it, Bams?" Her mother, Lucy Sinclair, said cheerfully as her daughter entered the kitchen. She was whipping up some pancakes for breakfast.
"Weather wise, yes." Bambi replied as she hopped into a chair at the table.
Lucy turned away from the stove to face her daughter, concern glazed over her eyes. "What do you mean weather wise? What's wrong sweet pea?"
She shook her head, tracing circles on the wooden table. "Nothing mum. Just worried about the Geography test today."
Her mother released a light, airy laugh. "You have absolutely nothing to worry about Bams. You're the smartest in your high school! You've never failed any tests, and I'm pretty darn sure this one is going to be no different."
She smiled a little. "I guess you're right. Where is dad?" She asked as a plate of fresh, warm pancakes were placed in front of her.
"Oh, he was out on the piss again last night. He's upstairs sleeping." Her mother answered, sucking her teeth. "I don't think the bloke has had a single sober night since he was legal. Except for the night when we-" She was cut off.
"Mum! Eew! I don't want to know about when I was conceived!" Bambi exclaimed through a mouth full of food. Lucy laughed again.
"Finish eating and get ready for school." She went to wash the dishes.
Bambi finished the pancakes, taking the plate over to the sink and planting a quick kiss on her mother's withering cheek. She scampered up the stairs back to her bedroom.
She rummaged through her messy closet before pulling out an old pair of blue jeans that were ripped at the knees, a Rolling Stones tee shirt and a black hoodie. She changed out of her pajamas and slipped the baggy clothes onto her shapeless body.
On her way to the bathroom, she tied her dull red hair up into a ponytail and pinned back the loose strands. She entered the bathroom, and captured her reflection. One she was not happy about.
Her skin had blemishes and was scarred, her deep green eyes hidden by her glasses and her clothes forcing her to look like a square.
A few tears rolled down her cheeks in glistening beads as she stared at herself in the mirror. Self conscious couldn't even begin to describe how she felt about herself. All the names her classmates called her-fat, ugly, loser, worthless- were starting to finally affect her.
Her lip quivered as she pushed the tears back, brushing her teeth and continuing to glare at her reflection.
"Bams! Hurry up or you're going to be late for school!" Lucy called up the stairs.
"I'm coming!" Bambi replied as she rinsed her mouth. She rushed out of the bathroom.
Grabbing her bag and books from her bedroom floor, she gave herself one last regretful look in the mirror.
"Another day. Another dreadful day." She whispered to herself, closing the door behind her as she exited her room.
Another kiss was placed on her mother's cheek as she reached the end of the stairs.
"Have fun. Good luck on the test!"
"Thanks mum." Bambi managed to smile, slipping on an old and dusty pair of white converse. She grabbed her skateboard out of the coat closet and dragged it out the door.
She rolled down the walk way and into the street, picking up speed. She breathed in the fresh Bradford air, waving her delicate hands to a few early bird neighbors.
The high school was only a few blocks away. The whole time as the wheels on her skateboard rolled over the pavement and the morning air livened her senses, her mind was stuck on only one thing: Zayn Malik.
Zayn was Bambi's crush of many years, and just by looking at him it wasn't hard to tell why by his perfectly chiseled features and tan skin. He had gorgeous, deep brown eyes beneath a tiny blanket of long eyelashes, and a body to die for. He could act and sing beautifully, irresistible. Her heart would beat 300 times a minute whenever she seen him. She would hold back a swoon whenever he sang or even spoke. He was almost always on her mind, the only one she wanted.
But the thing was, he could never be hers. He was part of the popular crowd, had girls under his arms at all times. He was almost always taken and always with his friends.
The worst part about it, was the fact he was one of the many people who treated her like shit, made fun of her.
