Out of all people he had to be the one I bumped into. All I could do was stare at him. It literally felt like every single word I had ever learned was stripped away from my brain. I felt frozen and mute, I had to look like the biggest idiot in the world. His eyes were staring back at me and it made me feel as if I should not be looking into them what so ever. I looked away only to be stuck gazing down at his lips to see that he had a lip piercing. This was even worse cause all I could think about was how the cool metal would feel against my lips.

"You alright." His words moved in perfect motion with his lips. Me being the complete idiot that I was stood there starring at his mouth as if he had not just spoken.

"Hello?" he said this time snapping me back to reality I quickly got the rest of my things and got up from the floor. Slater just looked up at me with a smirk planted on his face.

"Yea, I'm good just clumsy me." I said nervously. God I was such an idiot. I can never be just cool and collective I always had to be the nerdy loser when it comes to situations like this.

"Your so cute when your nervous."

"What did you say?" I said. Did he just say I was cute when i'm nervous.

"Nothing, I uh didn't say anything." He said shaking his head and getting up from the floor. He stuck his hands in his pockets and then began to walk away. He then suddenly turned around.

"Anabelle... Anabelle Hastings right?" He said

"I perfer Ana." I said looking down.

"Ana." He said softly. "I'm Slater. Slater Hale." He said and then walked away.

I walked towards the detention class room and opened door to find that I would be the first person in detention today. Mr.Pine looked up at me from his newspaper and smiled as he shook his head.

"Well Hastings you know the drill." He said turning his attention towards me and looking away from the newspaper. I got my stuff and put it on the desk directly in fornt of Mr.Pine.

"So what did Larissa do this time." Mr.Pine said leaning in. Mr.Pine was amazing. After my fifth time being here in detention he asked me why I was so frequently sent down this period. When I told him the story he decided to take it easy on me. For me detention wasn't really detention but a time to talk to a teacher in this school who would actually listen to what I had to say.

I told Mr.Pine everything and like usual he just shook his head and even laughed.

"That Larissa is something else, but you have to learn to ignore what she says kiddo." Mr.Pine said to me picking up his newspaper.

"But it's so hard, and I'm not gonna just sit there and let her talk to me like that." I said back at him.

"Kiddo sometimes in life we are gonna be told stuff that are gonna piss us off. But we have to learn to ignore it so that the person talking will seem to be talking to them selves." Mr.Pine said then took a sip of coffee. I said nothing the rest of my time in detention doing some work and chatting with Mr.Pine ocassionaly about random things. Then I decided to bring up Slater and see what he might know about him.

"Hey what do you know about this new kid Slater Hale." I said. Mr.Pine looked up from his newspaper and just looked into the air.

"Well not much just that he moved here from England I believe." Mr.Pine siad then turned back to his paper.

"Weird he dosen't have an accent." I said confused.

"Well thats cause he was born here in New Jersey, then moved to England, then moved back. And that is about all I know." Mr.Pine said. As soon as he finished that sentence the bell rang and it was time for lunch. I grabbed my stuff and headed downstairs to the cafe. I walked in and sat at my regular table. Luke was the first to sit down at the table. I hated the school lunch and never ate it. Since Luke had to pay for lunch I gave him my code so that he can get free lunch.

"Klara said she had to finish a project in the Media Center." Luke said while taking a huge bite out of his pizza slice. He handed me the orange juice since that was all I ever asked for when ever he got lunch. I opened it up and took a huge sip. Sadly that was just about all I was able to get. I hated these small cups of juice they would give us.

"So I have second period with that new kid." Luke said taking another bite, then looked at me. I could feel my heart flutter, and begin to beat faster and faster.

"He's quiet." Luke said. That was it. That was all Luke could tell me about him, was that he was quiet. I waited for him to say something else but he didn't. He couldn't tell me anything else but that he was quiet. It was driving me crazy, insane almost. I've only exchanged names with him and that's about it and he was driving me crazy. Just knowing that he was quiet was not enough for me.

"What are you thinking about?" Luke asked while taking a sip of milk.

"Nothing." That was all I said. First Mr.Pine barely knew anything about him witch was odd cause teachers always knew more than most when it came to students. Then Luke who spends an entire forty minutes with can only conclude that he was quiet. There had to be more. Maybe Luke just wasn't paying much attention to him. I mean Luke rarely pays much attention to anything or anyone. I searched the cafe to see if I could find Slater see if he was sitting with anyone. He had to have made friends right? As I searched and looked around I found nothing. No sign of him anywhere. No sign of his lip piercing, no sign of his hair, no sign of those eyes.

Nothing seemed to be all I was going to get from him. Completely nothing but lets be honest there had to be more to him than people seem to let on. More than he seemed to let on. I swear I have to find out more about him before it drove me completely crazy. The bell finally rang witch mean that it was time for english. Finally my favorite subject of ther day. Hopefully I would be able to get my mind off of Slater and be able to focus on something else. I walked down the packed hall ways and finally was able to reach my class room. I loved my english teacher. He was completely hilarious and really loved teaching english. This ofcourse only made me love his class even more.

I walked into class and went straight to my seat. I ignored everyone on my way to my seat and took out my books. Mr.Phelps walked around and handed out worksheets. I read the worksheet seemed like we were going to be doing a in class project for the next week. He had to select partners. Great I hated working with partners they never seemed to work out. One person did all the work and both names ended up on the work.

"Well I promise I put in my fair share of work." A voice behind me said. The voice had me frozen in place. I knew it all to well. It was smooth and soft and almost playful. I didn't bother to turn around because the desk right beside me pulled up right next to me. He sat down and placed his books on the desk. I couldn't help but get lost in his eyes again and naturally my eyes traveled down to his lip right where his piercing was. Great this was supposed to be my class to relax and not think about Slater. I shook my head and had to get myself together.

"Ummm yea well that would be nice." I said. What? God I was such and idiot. I looked at him and all  I saw was his smirk.

"Do you have any ideas you wanna disscuss?" He said. We were supposed to pick and independent reading book and write a book reprt then do three seperate creative projects.

"Umm well no not really." I said tapping my pencil against the table. Ask him, ask, ask, ask. That was all that was going through my head. Come one say something. I was completely blank. I knew it was because I was nervous and wasn't brave enough to ask anything.

"Okay just say the first thing that pops into your mind." I said to myself. Just when I was about to open my mouth the fire alarm sounded. Everyone got out of class faster than anything and Slater was right behind them. Seemed like I would never find out about Slater Hale today. But tomorrow was a different day.
