"Mom! I'm home!" I shouted waiting for her response that never came. "Mom?" I walked into the kitchen not seeing her. I was about to walk out of the room when I seen a note on the counter with a ten dollar bill. Before I checked what it said, I grabbed one of the small empty vases and put my flower in it.
I glanced down at the note and read it, "Dear Jamie, I won't be home until 9 o'clock. Kaitlin set me up on another blind date. Go ahead and buy a couple of pizzas." I just let out a chuckle. Kaitlin, one of Mom's close friends, has been setting her up on blind date for the past few year. Some of them went well, but Mom wasn't wanting to hand herself over to just anyone again.
No, my parents didn't get a divorce and neither of them died. Sadly, my mom was a one night stand a little over 18 years ago. When my mom told they guy about her being pregant, he wanted nothing to do with it. Any wise 17 year old girl would have gotten an abortion, but she kept the baby and had me. Of course that didn't settle well with her parents. They kicked her out, but luckily Kaitlin was already 18 and renting her own apartment. She obviously let my mom stay with her until Mom got her own place.
I grabbed my car keys and was about to head to the car to get Little Caesars, but was stopped by an annoying 18 year old blonde boy. "Where do you think your going?" he asked leaning against the door frame of the front door.
"Mom's gone and I'm going to get a couple pizzas," I said boredly to my annoying cousin, Zachary. He's been staying with us since his dad kicked him out of his house two months ago. He was more of a brother to me than a cousin, but that doesn't change how annoying he can get sometimes.
"Add two more pizzas too that order and I'll let you pass," he said handing me ten more dollars. I rolled my eyes and took the money and started to walk towards the door. "I've got a few friends coming over. They should get here before you get back."
"Really now? I thought you were going to eat both pizzas yourself," I joked and waved at him as I walked out and went to the car.
After ordering four pepperoni pizzas, getting a weird look from the cashier, and stopping for gas, I headed home. I noticed two other cars parked in front of the house. Zachary's friends. Kill me. I sighed and got out of the car attempting to carry all four pizzas and my large fountain drink and my purse.
Zachary must have heard me pull up so he took the pizza out of my hands and I readjusted how I was holding my purse and soda. "Who's winning!" Zachary shouted to his friends who I'm guessing are in the living room.
"Alabama's leading by 12-3," one of the guys voices said. I knew the guys were from my school, since at the moment Zachary was attending there. I mentally cheered to myself hearing that Alabama was winning.
I grabbed a few slices of pizza and tossed them on a plate to go watch the game in my room so I wouldn't have to sit there awkwardly when Zachary and his friends. "Thank goodness. I'm starving," The same voice from earlier said walking into the kitchen.
The person the voice belonged to was our school's golden boy. He's the quarterback of our football team. He's really the only reason we've won most games of the season. He slightly froze when he walked into the room, but shook it off and walked over to the pizza boxes.
"I'm going to go up to my room," I mumbled and I took my pizza and walking down the stairs to my basement. I loved it down here; a very large flat screen TV, an Xbox 360 with it, an average black couch in front of it, a surround sound that sounds amazing. My walls were a dark shade of purple and blue, two walls being blue two being purple. I had a desk in the corner with my laptop and drawing kit. A lot of my drawings were hung on the wall beside my desk. I also had my bed in one corner of the basement which was a full sized, on it held my collection of stuffed animals, mainly the ty ones. A few feet from my bed was my dresser holding most of my clothing then there was my closet right beside my bathroom. The bathroom wasn't completely finished like the rest of the bathroom, but we haven't had the time to hire someone to finish it for us yet. The rest of the large room was the small details that made this place look amazing and cozy at the same time. I've had to be a very good daughter to get all of this over the past ten years.
I sat my plate on the coffee table and turned on the TV and switching the channel to the game, smirking seeing that Alabama gained six points.
Ryan's P.O.V.
I watched her walk down the stairs with an awkward look on her face. I only took my eyes off of her when the door closed behind her. "Finally made a move on her I see?" Zach's voice caused me to snap my head towards him.
He pointed over to the flower sitting in a vase on the counter. I scratched the back of my head, "Uh, Yeah, " I said grabbing my pizza and walking back down to the living room. I signed seeing that Alabama gained six points.
It was an hour later and sadly, Alabama was crushing my team. "Hey dude, will you go get Jamie's plate? I'm going to do the dishes in a few minutes. If Aunt Melissa comes home to a mess in the kitchen she'll flip a shit," Zach said elbowing me.
"Yeah, sure," I said back before getting up and jogging to the door that Jamie went down only am hour ago. I was about to knock on her door when I heard her yell.
"Oh come on! That's a foul!" She shouted and groaned. "STUPID REF! DO YOUR FUCKING JOB!"
I walked down her stairs and stood at the bottom of them with a small smirk playing on my face looking at her rant at the TV. She stood up and walked to the TV stand where her phone sat. Once she grabbed it she looked at it. I couldn't see what she was looking at from here. I glanced down at her outfit. She must have changed when she came down because now she was wearing a pair of pajamas; a pair of really short shorts and a t-shirt with a wolf on it. Her legs were tan, but I didn't expect it seeing that she wears only wears jeans to school.
"Alabama fan?" I asked. She jumped and looked up from her phone with a scared expression on her face. She calmed down, but a slight blush came on her face.
"Y-Yeah," Jamie said. A small smile bleed though my smirk, "Rylee, right?" She asked standing still.
"Ryan, I go to your school. I'm the quarterback," I corrected. She doesn't even know my name.... "Zach wanted me to get your plate."
"Yeah, um, sure. Here," She said handing me the plate. Her hand slightly brushed mine. Her hands were warm.
"Gotta cool room," I said trying to make conversation with her, but it didn't work to well seeing that she just replied with a nod. "I come here a lot. Hardly ever see you," I said.
"Well I live here. Just you know, stay down here," She rubbed her shoulder avoiding looking at my eyes. I looked around her room until my eyes landed on it. The note I left her. It was sitting on the coffee table. She kept it.
I walked back on the stairs and closed the door behind me and hit my head on it. Rylee? Really? I sighed and turned to walk to the sink when I saw Zach smirking at me,
"Seeing how you come up the stairs, I'm guessing it didn't go well?" he asked, his smirk never fading.
"She didn't even know my name. Rylee She thought my name was Rylee," I groaned tossing the plate in the sink.
"So whipped," He coughed out. I just glared at him and then went back to the game playing in the living room where Shane sat.
"I'm not whipped," I grumbled plopping down on the couch.
