Lillian's grip loosened somewhat, allowing Nora to free her arms and reached around Lillian's neck, hugging her closer. Nora could see, that, in the corner of her eye, the old woman was spitting at Nora, at Lillian. She thought that it was probably that she was homophobic, nothing more. Lillian spoke to her mother, her arms tightening, bringing them together even more.
"You never asked if she was one of us. I thought you knew."
'Wait, hang on a second, Lothroniel? Ms. Bishop didn't actually mean what she said, right?' Nora thought, her eyes widening and her grip stronger. Lillian began to stroke Nora on her back, reassuringly.
Adelle flared. "You, by being one of us, are required to report any Lothroniel minors, no matter what, even if you thought that they were known or not. Do you understand, Lillian?"
"Yes, mom. I get it. Actually, now that I think about it, that was the angriest that I have ever seen Nora, ever. Whatever Ms. Simms said must've really etched in her skin. Still, she took it plenty well, especially with Ms. Simms telekinetic and telepathic powers. Although, what caught me as a little unnerving was how she was not able to control Nora at all. She did it perfectly with everyone attempting to interfere, without a fault. By the way, Ms. Simms, please do not spit at us, as it is plenty rude. Homosexuals in your mind are worse than normal humans. Why is that? Were you perhaps a Christian before you happened to join the Code?" She smiled mischievously.
"You," Ms. Simms hissed, "are not ever allowed to speak to your elders like that, you insolent child." She was shaking from rage.
"You know," Michael spoke, his hand on his chin, as though in deep thought, "Why wasn't she affected at all, if Ms. Simms really did try to affect your movements in any way. she would've done it while sitting down. Why did you get up?" Looking towards Ms. Simms now.
"That girl was being protected by another telepathy user, she has already charmed the hearts of you ignorant crowd members!"
Michael only laughed at this, "You are the strongest telepathy and telekinesis user here! Or at least," glancing over to Nora, "that's what I thought about five minutes ago."
"Honey." Adelle looked at Michael with a rather disappointed and ashamed look, "What do you mean by this?"
"I mean, in the most casual way that I can," He walked forward to Nora, and tousled her hair, "That this little one that you and I've loved for quite a while now is something that we don't know about at all in this world."
"We know everything in this world, and other worlds as well. What makes her any different than what we've known already?"
"Addie, think! What creatures are able to deflect such a large amount of telepathy? Telekinesis?"
Adelle gasped, then whispered, loud enough still for Nora to here, "High level demons."
Michael beamed at this, but people were muttering rather rude things to Nora, and Lillian's arms loosened.
"Exactly," Ms. Simms said, "We've just led a demon that has been able to bypass our security into our grasp. We should torture it before it knows anything else."
Nora was done with that woman. She was one of those "purebred" people in her own mind that will hate every imperfection of her own race, and despise every other one altogether for the fact that it wasn't her race.
"What the living fuck is wrong with you!" For the first time in a while, all eyes were on her again. "For Satan's sake, why are you taking everything out on me! Is it really a Homophobe thing? You need to get yourself a reality check, because, if you don't mind me asking, how long have you known the Bishops? You seem to know everyone here."
