Now

"Carter! It's time for school!" My grandmother yells from downstairs. I hurry and finish doing my makeup and brushing my long blonde hair and rush down to catch the bus. Today is my 16th birthday. Eh I'm not as excited as most 16 year old girls would be. To me it's just another day.

I rush into the school and head to my locker. "Carter!" My best friend Mitchell calls from down the hall. Mitchell and I have been best friends since I moved in with my grandparents after my mothers disappearance 9 years ago. Mitchell runs up to me and hugs me tight "I miss you ya little twit!" I giggle and smile up at him "It was just the weekend. Get over it ya dork" Mitchell takes my books out of my hands and puts them on the floor then picks me up, "Well I died from loneliness over the weekend. So suck it up buttercup!" I squeal and jump out of Mitchell's arms "I didn't expect that asshole!" Mitchell laughs and pokes my side "That's Mr. Asshole to you." I finish up at my locker and we head to class.

"Good morning class!" Mrs. Taylor tells our class. "Happy birthday Carter!" She tells me. I hate when people recognize its my birthday so I just mumble a thanks and head to my seat next to Mitchell. My first class of the day is history. I find history very boring so I don't pay much attention. Class drones on and it feels like it's been an hour since she started talking but I take a look at the clock and it's only been 30 minutes. Mitchell passes me a note "Hey. Me, you, my place. After school. Movies. Sound good?" I reply "sure" then throw it back at him and wink. Recently I've been more flirty with Mitchell and it's fun. My grandparents trust Mitchell so much that I'm allowed to spend the night over there and it's fun to flirt with him when I stay the night. I tell him to cover his face with a pillow when I change instead of going to the bathroom and once in a while I catch him peaking and laugh. Mitchell is my best friend and I don't ever think I could want him as anything more, but he is adorable and messing with him is hilarious. Mitchell has to be one of the cutest guys in school. He's got that wavy blonde hair that covers one eye like mine does. He's 6"1 and all the girls want him. Mitchell doesn't date, and I don't know why. He just says he isn't into anyone. I look at him towards the end of class and see he's sleeping so I poke him in the side and he squirms and tries not to laugh when he looks at me. As school drones on and on me and Mitchell just keep talking about our after school plans. When the final school bell rings we head to his car and he drives us to his place.
