"Let me get this straight ..." Eve growled in clearly not so subtle protest.

Summoned as if in the blink of an eye, she'd found herself in the empty dining room of the Long Branch Saloon with the young woman who'd claimed her name was Lynn something or other.

"... you need me ... to tell you ... about myself."

Overly experienced with vampire undead and cloistered wolfish miscreants, witches were right up there at the top of her list of things most aggravating and prone to annoy.

"It's quite simple ..." the elfish young mortal sighed in resignation, apparently used to such as part and parcel for her job. "... as Crypt Keeper of the Wattpad Paranormal Research Society, or WPRS for short; I, ... or I should say that we need to know the tidbits of your character for proper record of my Crypt."

The woman pulled out what looked like a narrowed book of some sort and began to tap at the cover with her fingers as she studied the Lycan Alpha.

Not one to care for such intolerable insolence, Eve looked as ready for a fight as she felt; hair slicked up in crisp knife-edged black mo-hawk, subtle charred highlight beneath each eye and lips painted black as night.

Her necklace gleamed white against black leather that bound her neck, a silvered chain lined with what appeared to many as far too much like actual human canines for comfort. Gray vested suit sharp and neat with colt pistols holstered ivory-butt forward on her gun belt gave not so subtle warning to accompany the hint of knives in each boot which served as further notice to make any casual observer move wide to avoid her.

"There we go." The woman sighed with apparent relief as she pointedly tapped her finger and swiped it across the cover of the book. "Description done, now the details of what you are."

"With pleasure." Eve replied with a smile that did not quite reach the black-iced chill of her eyes.

The woman appeared to raise the pad as if to shield herself while Eve began her change; bones expanded beneath skin that stretched while teeth ground to sharpened fang against all too familiar pain as her body grew and expanded.

What was once human and now grizzly with black fur and sharp human eyes steeped in murderous rage shook her massive bulk before she began to look around the now empty room.

With a roar of frustration she charged out into the night after her missing prey.

Safely on a hill nearby, Lynn continued typing her log entry once she'd saved the image and video from the camera on her i-pad.

"Subject appears to be lycan bear, genus grizzly. She differs from other lycans in that her human form is temporary to her normal animal instead of the expected lycan mythology of old, annotated as subtle but different."

Signing her name to the report, she tapped save, verify and then send as it crossed electronic lines in duplicate for the ever affable Lord Councilor brucerelgin and the not-so affable Lady Magistra Godhand.

Her current task complete, she opened her list of Halloween to-dos and groaned when she found her next assignment.

With only twenty-four hours granted annually to gather data, she never seemed to get a real chance to enjoy Halloween.

"Vampire-sheep that feed on rats ..." she took a moment to enjoy the solitude as she looked up at the stars before she summoned the energy to move on. "Every time we turn around they are inventing even more fodder for the crypt that I have to register and keep track of. Will this Halloween ever end ..."

With a tired sigh, she poked several buttons and was gone.
