When I wake up, I wake up with a hungry stomach and a little mix of emotions that I haven't felt in a long time. I get up and walk to the kitchen.
When I get down there my Dad looks up at me and walks out of the room, is he really still hung up that thing? I pour myself some cereal and eat it in the couch.
As I am about to finish my cereal, there is a knock at the door. I sigh because I was comfortable on the couch, then I get up and look through the peep hole of the door. Its Ashton. He knocks again and I open the door. I quickly shut the door realizes that I'm wearing just an oversized t shirt. "Why did you shut the door?" He says. "Uh one second" I say and run to my room. I look around for some pajama pants or something and all I could find was leggings so they will do.
I run back down stairs and open the door, ash is now leaning against the side of the house. "Hey why did you come here, so early in the morning?" I ask. He laughs and says, "its almost noon Alex." I look back at the clock and mouth the word "oh" he laughs. "Anyways I was just wondering if you would like me to take you out to the park like for a picnic." He says and I smile. "Uh sure but I can't go out like this so just umm, sit on the couch and I'll be back" I say and run into my room. What to wear what to wear. I open up my closet and find a cute oversized sweater and boots, I'm already wearing the leggings that match the outfit. I put on my outfit and wash my face and just put my hair up in a bun. I run over to my mirror and put on some mascara and run back to the living room.
When I look at him he looks at me... This is weird, very weird. I look next to him,and he has the picnic basket. "Ready to go?" He asks me and I nod. "Hey Dad I'm going out with a friend" I say out loud. "K" my dad yells. Ashton and I walk out of the house and shut the door behind us. As we walk to the park we talk about almost anything except for last night.
When we get to the park there are children running everywhere, dogs chasing birds and cats. All the adults are mingling and then there is Ashton and me. We choose a spot where it is calm and a little more quiet. He lays down a black and white blanket and sets the basket at the middle of it. We both sit and he opens up the basket. Silence, he hasn't said anything since we got here.. Which is incredibly weird because he is very talkative.. I don't know what to do, "Are you just trying to forget about last night?" I ask and he looks at me. "No... I didn't think you wanted to talk about it." He says. "But last night wasn't bad, wasn't embarrassing, it was actually very nice" I say and he smiles a little. "What is on your mind all of a sudden?" I ask him. "Hmm oh nothing." He says and I just look at him. "...what is it?" I ask him. He looks bothered. After about five minutes of silence, he spoke. "It's just what's going on in my family, its nothing really" he said and I nodded."but you were all chatty chatty earlier so why is that on your mind now?" I ask him. "Because I ran out of things to say and you didn't speak and it came across my mind. I came to see you so that I could get my mind off of it and talk to you" he says and I nod again. I pick up a sandwich and take a bite. He gets a bottled tea and drinks it. It starts to get awkward because none of us are talking and we are just sitting there letting it get more awkward.
I break the silence by speaking, "I have to go." I get up and walk away. "I guess I will see you later?" Ashton says and I keep walking.
