Ame ran from the bad spirit that chased after her. All her tricks that would normal help her get away from bad spirits didn't seem to work with this one. No matter what she tried she couldn't get away from it. She even had considered going towards Ichigo's house but she didn't want to put him into danger if she didn't have to. He had saved her a few times without realizing it. But, better safe than sorry.

"Come here little girl!" The bad spirit taunted her. "I promise I'll make it quick and painless." She kept running, though she was growing tired. Searching for somewhere to hide and escape she remembered a pipe that led water to the river from the streets. If she went to the river she could get to the pipe and hide inside it a ways. It was big enough for her to fit but the bad spirit was way to big. Changing the direction she was running slightly she made her way towards the river. Her eyes searched the far bank for the pipe frantically. She couldn't keep running forever. Even now she knew she would soon become to tired and the bad spirit would get her. Then it would be over.

She glanced back to see how close the bad spirit was and her heart nearly stopped when she saw it lunging at her. Seconds before its claws touched her she felt herself lose her footing and trip. Causing the bad spirit to fly over her, surprised its target had been missed. As the sound of it crashing into the water told her where it was she scanned the far bank again. She was right up to the edge of the river bank. Her instincts told her she was in the right place but she couldn't see what she was after. Slowly her adrenaline from her near miss was dying as she began to give up. Her head dropped and she felt tears well up in her eyes. What would Ichigo think when she never visited again? How much would it hurt him? Her tears began to fall to the water just like the trickle coming from the pipe below her.

The pipe below her! She was on the opposite side she realized. The pipe she had been looking for was on the same side as her! Quickly she looked at the pipe below her to see if she was lucky enough for it to be the right pipe. It wasn't. But less than a hundred feet to her right was the pipe she was looking for. She glanced back to the left to see the bad spirit recovering as it shook its huge miss-shapened head. She had seconds before its focus was directed at her again. Without hesitating any longer she took off for the pipe.

A hungry roar behind her notified her that the chase was on again. Not wanting to chance luck again she didn't look back this time. If she was going to make it it would be close. She ran as hard as she could. As she got closer she noticed a piece of steel sticking out further than the rest of the pipe. Focusing on the piece she pushed herself further getting just a little bit of a speed increase. Grabbing the steel piece she used it to launch her body as deep into the pipe as she could. Just in time to because the bad spirit's clawed hand followed behind her less than a second after. Closing her eyes she curled into a ball to let her momentum roll her further into the pipe. The sound of claws scraping pipe caused her to open her eyes to see purple skinned claws inches from her face. The claws flexed giving them a few more inches and she crawled back before they could reach her.

A growl of frustration shook the pipe as the bad spirit pulled its arm back letting the pipe fill with bright light blinding her.

"Little girl." A voice called softly from outside sending chills down her back. "Come out little girl. I promise to make it painless. Just one bite and it's all over." She scooted back a few more feet. "I'm hungry little girl!" It's arm shot inside again and the sound of metal wrenching filled the pipe as the end couldn't hold the monstrous arm back and it ripped. She screamed as the claws came to a stop inches from her face.

As she crept back further her hand brushed against something and the pipe filled with a soft light. She glanced back at the source and was surprised to see a comb with a peculiar flower ornament. As if a voice was calling her name she felt the urge to pick it up. Slowly she reached out and gently picked the comb up. The moment her skin touched it the light brightened and a calm feeling washed through her. Not sure why, she brought the comb to her chest.
