Journal Entry #57

Today is a Monday. It began pretty inadequately, as my alarm didn't go off, so instead of waking up at seven A.M. I slept in until ten, and then as I was rummaging through my refrigerator in a desperate search for orange juice (which I had acquired a strange craving for) I ended up finding a gallon of three-months-expired orange juice, and had to throw it away.

Morning walks are always my ritual, you know that. Every morning I go for a walk. I don't know, it takes my mind off of things and separates my thoughts from reality. It's like a moving meditation to me, as I get into a very calm, zen type of mood when I'm doing it, which is generally a good way to start my day, which leads me back to explaining my bad day.

I went for a walk to the grocery store for some orange juice. As I was walking there, right at the crosswalk, I discovered a rusted old penny lying near my foot, face up. I'm not typically the superstitious type, but I believed it was a sign of good luck, and gladly scooped it into my hand and twiddled it in my fingers as I resumed my voyage to the grocery store.

The penny was in fact a good luck charm in my day. It began when I was walking down the juices aisle, my eyes scanning across the different brands and different packages, picking out my typical brand, and seeing that orange juice was actually on sale for 50% off!

Then, I made it back home just in time to see Venus as she was walking out the door in time for work. She was dressed in a red Beatles band t-shirt and black ripped jeans, along with (I assume because she wore them so often) her favorite boots. She had quite a style, and red definitely complimented her.

She had turned around from locking the door, and she jerked in fright of seeing me, placing a hand over her heart.

"Oh, you scared me!" she laughed, shaking her head.

I couldn't help but smirk at how cute she looked as she covered her goofy grin.

"Sorry,"

She nodded and shrugged her tote bag back onto her shoulder, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear.

"Anyway..." she began. I don't know what I was doing, I was just standing still, staring directly at her, but I didn't want to move, I could spent days in that one spot, just examining her beauty.

"I'm gonna' go to work now," she half-snickered, pointing at the staircase behind me, which definitely snapped me out of my trance-like condition as I stepped out of her way, embarrassed as she continued walking. I stared as she trotted away from me and down the flights of stairs. Even the sweet scent of lavender she trailed behind her was divine.

I then frustratedly staggered into my apartment and began writing this – but I must admit, I did take a break before writing the third paragraph as I watched Venus out my window beside my bed as she hailed a taxi cab, and climbed in and out of my view.

She's ripping me apart, and for once in life I feel like I have... a purpose. All my life I've felt out of place, like if I'd disappeared nobody would notice, much less care, and now I feel as if I'm here for a reason, finally, and that reason is you, Venus Midnight.
