No Prince Charming - Chapter Seven

Chapter seven

South of Aria's

The large white wolf launched himself at the soldiers that stood in his path; his claws ripping through flesh and his teeth crunching bones apart. Every time one of them came at him, with sword and shield, the image of coming back to an empty camp, flashed in his mind and drove him forward with rage. He couldn't bring his Nugara back, but he could get revenge for his death by killing every last one of these creatures that call themselves human. Out of the corner of his large blue eyes, he watched as his sister wolf did the same to any human that crossed her path. She was a quick and lethal wolf, were as he was large and strong. They fought together perfectly, balancing each other out; and it was this perfect balance that was tearing down Arias's soldiers as if they were mere flies.

The wolf's muzzle was stained red, and the sight was enough to cause most grown man to piss themselves and flee. These creatures were not use to seeing wolves the size of these, the wolves in this part of the world were small in frail, but these wolves were almost the size of horses and they did not fear man. This was the first time a Drugi had ever travelled so far from home, but they had come for a good reason, a reason that even now fuelled the large white wolf to continue culling every soul that got in his way. He was out to get revenge, revenge for what was stolen from him six years ago.

Princess Isabella

Everything was falling apart, I was losing my best friend to the guy who I am forced to marry to save my kingdom, yet that same kingdom was falling apart in front of my very eyes due to attackers who had no reason to cause us harm. The death toll was rising every day, and it wasn't just soldiers, but women and children too. It was breaking my heart, and I knew something had to be done to stop this, even if I had to beg the horrible Prince for help. The guy really got on my nerves, and the fact that he was taking Makao away from me didn't help all that much. I couldn't believe I was going to have to marry the pompous ass.

At that thought, I kicked a stone from the gravel path that I was walking down, and watched it until it was lost in some bushes. I sighed in frustration before turning on my heel and making my way back towards the castle to get some more information on what was happening. I wish I was back home with my father, because if my people were putting their lives in danger, then I should be there at their sides. I didn't care if I was a princess, I was a princess that knew how to fight and who was determined to be there for her people.

After wondering the castle for what felt like forever, trying to find someone with information, I decided to give up and make my way back towards my room where Makao and Ryker were curled up on the floor, napping. I smiled at the two of them, etching the image into my mind so that it would stay there for ever. I moved quietly around the two of them and made my way towards my bed, where I sat down with a content sigh. I looked around the room that had been given to me and I couldn't help but compare it to my room back home. The castle here was colder than the one I grew up in, dew to it being further North, and it was the coldness that got me thinking that maybe the Prince would just freeze to death one winter and I would be rid of him.

I knew that he didn't want to marry me, but it wasn't like I wanted to marry him either. I mean what girl doesn't wish to be swept off her feet by the man of her dreams? As a little girl I had always imagined some handsome prince, coming in and rescuing me. Instead I was stuck with some arrogant, bossy control freak of a Prince, who preferred sleeping with my man servant then worrying about saving my kingdom from invaders. As I thought that, I glanced down at Makao, and sure the small smile on his face. I know he was smitten with the prince, and he got this shine in his eyes whenever we spoke about him, but I just didn't see what he saw.
