Shadewhisker woke with a luxurious stretch by arching his back. He yawned and sat down. He opened his eyes to find himself surrounded by millions of cats! He looked around in awe of how many cats were gathers on this, island? He rushed to the side of the island to find it was an island waves lapped at the sand on the beach of the island.
Shadewhisker put his paw in the water and leaped back, surprised by the cold. He went back to the group of cats. They all were looking at four cats on a tall tree. Just under the tallest branch was a small one with four more cats.
As he watched he felt a cat nudge his neck. He leaped in surprise and stumbled to the ground.
He looked up to see what cat had startled him. In front was a large gray tom.
"Hello?" Shadewhisker asked to see if the cat would respond.
"Shadewhisker be quiet and listen," the tom meowed.
Shadewhisker rose a brow in confusion but turned to the cat everyone was looking at. A white and black tom had just stopped talking.
"That is all Shadowclan has to share, Cherrystar you may begin,"
A golden tabby she-cat dipped her head, Shadewhisker guessed this was Cherrystar.
"Thunderclan is doing well. Unfortunately one of our Elder's has passed away, we will honor and remember Whitetail,"
Shadewhisker saw many cats dip their heads out of respect and Cherrystar continued after a moment.
"But in her place we have two new kits from Marigoldfur," Cherrystar dipped her head, "Gullstar you may begin,"
A white tom with silver patches began talking, "All is well in Riverclan. Since Newleaf has begun the fish in our streams have returned. We also have a new apprentice, Toadpaw!"
All the cats turned to a leathe black tom in the back. He ducked his head in embarrassment.
Shadewhisker grinned and looked back at the cats talking.
"That is all for Riverclan,"
Then a sandy tabby she-cat stepped forward with black paws.
"Windclan is doing well, hares and rabbits are plenty and we keep full and healthy with the occasional mouse,"
"That is all for Windclan,"
After that cats talked a little. Shadewhisker he would try and find out more about these "clans". He started getting up but the gray tom stopped him.
"Shadewhisker I have from Starclan to tell you something," the tom looked Shadewhisker in the eye, dead serious, "I have come to tell you these are the clans," he said waving his tail out to show the cats.
"I thought Skyclan was the only the clan,"
"Yes, the others clans have faded in the knowledge of Skyclan. That is why you must find them and join them," the tom sighed sadly.
"But Skyclan is doing fine on it's own!" Shadewhisker defended his clan.
"No. Half of your own warriors won't even be their to protect their clan! You must move!" the tom sounded half worried half angry, "Skyclan will crumble," he muttered the last part.
"Why?" Shadewhisker asked, the curious side of him getting the winning part.
The opened his mouth but the world around Shadewhisker started tilting. Shadewhisker gasped in surprise as he began sliding down into the cold, black, merciless waves that had once been gentle but now were huge and hungry. Shadewhisker let out a cry of despair as he was plunged into the icy waves,
Shadewhisker woke with a jolt. He shivered and was amazed to be back in his den. He shakily sighed and got out of his nest.
