#6 :: Nothing Else Matters

Chapter 11.

Chanel.

"Chanel, are you going to be up all night babe?" Rico asked me.

"Yeah. I have to finish this and have it handed in by nine am! I have been so focused on everything else I only have a draft of this assignment! I need this to be perfect!" I told him.

"Ite. Let me leave you to it. You want me to come pick you up in the morning?"

"Oh yes please! I'm going to be so tired!"

"Ite. I'll come get you. See ya later." He said and we hung up. I smiled. Life had been good over the past three months.

I had a new bff Yasmine. I truly loved her! We spent everyday together even when we didn't have college. We worked together as well.

Yes I have a job!! Thanks to Rico he got both me and Yasmine jobs in the gym he worked in. We worked on reception though. But we got to use everything in the gym for free.

Home was pretty good! We had two new girls come to the home. They were twins. They were thirteen and really bad. We got into a few fights when they first came because they were disrespectful to everyone and was trying to bully the younger girls. They needed to know if they was going to be here for a day or 365 days they would respect the house and everyone in it! I guess they got tired of me beating their butts that they eventually jumped on board. The joys of being the eldest and having a rep that everyone talks about!
Miles was leaving in two weeks. I was so sad but happy for him at the same time.
He could have left already but he said he wanted to spend Christmas Day with me.

Christmas is a day I'd rather forget. Most of the children have aunties/uncles or grandparents that take them. And the workers, no matter how much we are like a family you know they want to be with their real family. So that's when it really hits home that I'm not wanted, not loved.

So even though I'm good and happy, I know the next two weeks will have me feeling anti social. The good thing about working is that I can buy presents this year.

Gonna buy the children and the workers presents.
I had been saving from I first got paid. Need to get Yasmine something and of course Rico.

Rico...who would have thought I would be smiling every time I hear his name. From the first day we met it was clear there was an attraction but I thought he would have stayed away because I was younger. But he didn't. He is so lovely. Nothing like Corey.

Speaking of Corey, he's finally been locked away. Was about time. All the things I know he's done; he should have been locked away for a very long time ages ago.
Anyway with him out of the picture I can have Rico around without me feeling as if I'm putting him in danger. It's still early stages and we are not actually together but I do like him.

"Finished!" I said aloud feeling very proud of myself. Two thousand word assignment finished! It was four in the morning and I knew I would feel it in the morning.

"Wake up...wake up...WAKE UP!!" My alarm went off. I felt like I had slept for five minutes! I had work after college. And these lot wanted to go out after work because today was our last day of college for the Christmas holidays.

I rolled out of bed and got ready for college. Packed my work stuff and went down for breakfast. Just as the bread popped up out of the toaster my phone went off.

"Outside babe xR"

Tired or not a message from Rico always made me smile. I grabbed my things and made my way to the car.

"Aye, Chanel." I heard. I turned to see one guy they called Snails. He walks, talks and acts so slow.

"Yeah."

"A little heads up. Your boy is out on remand. He's not allowed around here whilst he's on bail. But since when has that stopped him before?" He said before walking off.

Ugh!

I got in the car and I know Rico saw me and Snails talking.

"What's wrong?"

"Apparently Corey is out on remand. Why they would do that is beyond me!!" I said very pissed off!

"I never asked before what happened with you and him."

"I know, and I know it's pending, and I'm more than happy to tell you...but not today. That news has already ruined my good mood and I'm running on three hours sleep...I'm tired." I told him.

"Okay, no problem. You get the assignment done?"

"Yep!"

"Good, good. So after work we all going to go arcade. You coming?"

"I can say no I'm tired but will you lot listen?"

"Probably not."

"Well there we go." I said making us laugh.

As we got to college we saw Yasmine and Tallz get out of his car. They was all cuddled up. I was so glad she was happy. Tallz really seemed to like her. I was hoping he did. I would hate to have to hurt him.

"Aye Beyoncé and Jay Z" Rico called out to them making us all laugh. "Babe I'll see ya later yeah." He said to me as he locked his car kissed me and ran off to Tallz.

Yasmine waited for me at the entrance.

"Look at you and Tallz." I said making her smile.

"I really like him." Yasmine said biting her lip.

"What's wrong with that."

"I'm nervous."

"What are you nervous about?"

"You knowwwww" she said looking at me as if I was meant to be able to read her mind. Good thing I could.

"You're a virgin?"

"Yes."

"Awww. This is good!"

"No, because I'm an amateur."

"Did he say that?"

"No..."

"Then shut up. Don't worry about that. When it happens it will happen. Just make sure it's with someone you really like and will never end up hating. Trust me."

"You talking from experience?"

"Yeah...Yes I am..."
