Chapter 15: How could you forget Granger?

Hermione's P.O.V

Christmas was rather nice.

My parents bought me a beautiful dress as well as an entire series of these books that I've wanted since I heard about their publishing.

I couldn't thank them enough.

But out of all, Draco's present stood out.

It looks quite expensive, and knowing Draco, I'm sure it is.

It was a platinum ring with a neatly cut amethyst embedded into it.

It was absolutely breathtaking.

I put it on immediately and sent him a letter thanking him.

He also sent me some peppermint and white chocolate frogs and 2 boxes of Bertie Botts' every flavor beans.

Harry sent me candy too, and a diary.

Ginny, the twins, Arthur, and Molly sent me candy, cards, and a purple knit sweater with a 'H' in the front. It was lovely.

And last, Ronald sent me a necklace with a red stone along with some more........yes, candy.

Draco told me in his recent letter about Beau. He had mentioned probably fifteen times that she had changed horribly.

That she wasn't the Beau we knew anymore.

Reading this made me feel slightly guilty. It was partially my fault too.

But I love Draco. And I'm not letting anyone ruin our relationship, best friend or not.

Well, ex best friend.

I thought I might try apologizing to her for doing what I did behind her back.

And for being a backstabbing best friend.

We probably wouldn't ever be friends again, but the least we could be is acquaintances.

Not enemies.

Draco told me that we should keep an eye on Beau while we're back at Hogwarts.

He told me about how she was taking ice cold baths when it was freezing outside.

Normally, anyone doing this would die of cold, but Beau didn't, according to Draco.

Something's wrong, and I'm going to find out about it.

I boarded the train along with Harry and Ron as we looked for a compartment inside.

We discussed a bit about Dumbledore's Army after we got in.

We needed to teach the students more about conjuring their patronus as well as some complicated but effective defense spells.

The Inquisitorial squad is getting close to what we're doing, but I hope they'll never find out.

And the worst part is, Draco's in it.

He made me promise him not to get involved with anything damn thing Harry starts.

But I definitely had to break that promise. Harry is my best friend. I would do anything it takes to help him destroy You-Know-Who.

I just hope Draco doesn't find out.

What would happen to our relationship then?

After a while I excused myself to go change into robes, after which I would meet Draco in the compartment we usually meet.
