Alex's P.O.V.
I jumped off the thestral and followed everyone in the direction of the entrance to the Ministry of Magic.
It isn't the first time I've been here.
My father would bring me here along with my brother once a year, until I turned eleven and my acceptance letter from Hogwarts came, which resulted in me not being home except for the holidays.
Luna fell into step beside me and gave me a small smile when I looked at her, which I returned.
Hermione Granger let herself in , along with her sidechicks Potter and Weasley, the rest of us following short.
We crammed ourselves into an elevator and waited while Hermione looked for the right button to push.
I don't know why she even needs to think, she's definitely pushed a lot of buttons before, maybe even popped some .
Oh well. I should probably stop.
I rolled my eyes and chuckled as Longbottom squirmed around uncomfortably due to the fact that Ronald's face was pressed into his back .
A *ding* sound indicated that we had arrived where we needed to be.
The Department of Mysteries; dedicated to the queries of creation, to the study of life, magic and death. According to what dad had told me, the employees here are known as the Unspeakables, forbidden to disclose any information regarding their job, the department they work in, or the things they handle.
I took slow, small steps, making sure I didn't knock over the partially glowing glass balls that seemed to have fog in them. I can't seem to take my eyes off of them.
I'm a few metres behind the lot already, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to see them when I look ahead again.
Suddenly, I felt something whiz past me, causing me to turn in the direction of another dark alley through which the cold breeze seemed to move.
I squinted my eyes to make out whatever was there in the darkness. Slowly, a hand appeared, beckoning me into the alleyway. It was merely in the form of smoke, growing distant with every step I took.
"Come ego dies quam expectabamus invenimus.", A voice whispered.
*Come, I've been waiting for you*(A/N: Hereby, translations of any Latin sentences will be clearly given within asterisks.)
I glanced in the direction of the group to see that they were far ahead, clearly not aware of my absence.
"Come" The voice urged as I stood where I was, regaining my attention.
I decided to follow it, for whatever stupid, twisted, and bizarre reason that I won't bother to explain.
The hand disappeared as soon as I had started to follow it, leaving me to judge my way merely based on the voice, which seemed to belong to a woman.
As I walked further, the voice stopped as well, leaving me in the middle of God-knows-where with nothing but the light being emitted from the tip of my wand.
I looked around, seeing nothing but tall racks full of glass balls. As I moved my head around, something caught my eye. On one of the racks was a glass ball, glowing more prominently than the others.
Before I could even comprehend anything, I began walking towards it. I picked it up gently and held it in front of me, just admiring. It was almost hypnotizing.
A shiver ran down my spine all of a sudden, and I realized that I was not alone again.
I remained silent, afraid that even the slightest sound could initiate something bad. I heard something whispering, so faint that I could've easily ignored it if there was any other noise.
