Chapter 5

Katina

"What was all that about?" Sharon said.

"Yea, why does he seem so familiar?" Carmen said.

"He should seem familiar. That was Jared Cartwright. We met after college at a law seminar. We dated. I fell in love with him and then I found out that he was cheating on me. He left when I found out and we haven't seen each other or talked since then." I said reliving hurt I felt.

"Ohhh, I'm sorry boo." Sharon said.

"It's enough men out here to last a lifetime, gurl. Forget about him." Carmen said.

I would if it were only that simple. Why is it that the man hurt me so bad but I still want him. Why?

"It's ok y'all. I got an early case tomorrow, though." I said, wanting to be alone.

" I gotta open the shop up early anyway and if you gotta be up early then Sharon does too." Carmen pointed out.

"Time to head out." Sharon exclaimed.

We all said our goodbyes. I took a shower and went to bed dreaming about the man I both hated and still loved.

Jared

Adrian hit it off with some girl so I took a cab back home. My house is so quiet and... lonely. I wish Kat would forgive me and come back. The way she looked tonight was amazing and the fact that I got to her means she still cares. Getting her back is going to be crazy but hopefully she calls since she has my card and not the other way around. My thoughts are interrupted by my phone ringing. It's my assistant calling. She says that tomorrow I have an appointment with some big law firm that is considering me to be a legal consultant based on the cases I have handled previously. I thank her for the news and take a shower and head to bed.
