I grab coffee for me and Sharon on the way to work. I take the elevator all the way up to my floor.

"Good morning, Sharon." I greeted her while handing her the coffee.

"Thanks, Katina. Mr. Harrison says he wants to speak with you about a case and that you will be working with a new legal consultant."

"Okay. Let me go meet the new guy." I walk all the way to Mr. Harrison's office and I let his assistant know I am here. His assistant opens the door and Mr. Harrison motions for me to come in.

"Hello, Mr. Harrison and you must be the new legal consultant." I walk towards them with a smile.

"Yes, Ms. Pierce, I would like to introduce you to your new legal consultant on the Meyers versus Stanley case, Mr. Cartwright." Mr. Harrison announced.

As soon as he said his name, I became aware of him in the room. He looked genuinely surprised to see me.

"Hello. It will be nice to work with you." I stated, while trying my best to keep my emotions under control.

He shook my hand and nodded. The shocked he had faded as he wore a smirk on his face. He better wipe that grin off.

"Follow me to my office so we can further discuss the case, Mr. Cartwright." I turned and walked to my office with the intentions of giving this man a piece of my mind. My boss yelled good luck as we headed to my office.

Sharon looked at me, silently asking what's up. She was surprised to see him and I was too, to day the least. "Sharon, hold all my calls. In going into a meeting with our new consultant that I am going to be working with." She caught was I was saying and nodded as we walked into my office.

"Close the door." I said. He closed it swiftly but not before cocking his head to the side.

"Look, let's get something straight, I will not have anything to discuss with you except business. We will work on this case and that is all. In the event that you pull some bullshit, that you more than likely will, I will kick your ass out my office so fast before you even have a chance to say wait. Do we understand each other, Mr. Cartwright?" I emphasized his name so he would get the picture.

"Kat, why are you-"

"That doesn't answer my question. Do we understand each other?" I asked while shooting him daggers. He nodded.

"Good. Now have you reviewed the case already or do you need the file and time to look over it?" I asked flatly.

" I didn't get all the details of the case so if you give me the file then I can review it and come back tomorrow to discuss it further." I handed him the file. He nodded goodbye and left.

Why did he have to come here? Out of all the places, why here? I hope he didn't see past my tough girl act. I saw him and those brown eyes and full lips, I had to do something so pushing him away it was. Sharon soon came in.

"What was that about? Why is the guy from the club your consultant?" She asked.

"Apparently Harrison thinks it's a good idea. He will be working with me until further notice, so I've been told."

"So you're ok with all of this?" She asked concerned, obviously she was recalling the incident at the club.

"It is what it is. I can't change it so I'm just going to have to put up with it."

"Well while you were in here with him, Carmen called so you might want to call her back."

"Did you tell her he was here?"

"Yes ma'am."

"Oh Lord. I know she probably going crazy wanting to know what's going on. You know she so nosey." We both started laughing. She walked out and I was left to call Carmen.

After telling her all the details, she agreed that we don't need to be reliving the past but focus on the case that was given to us. After the long day at work, I went home and stepped in the shower. As I left the warm water encase my body, my thoughts kept going back to how good he looked in his suit. It reminded me of the time he took me out to a fancy dinner. He sat across the table from me and I sat memorized by how good he looked. He smiled and took my hands in his and told me he loved me for the first time. In that moment, I was the happiest I had ever been. My heart was beating a hundred miles a minute but I knew on my heart I love him too with everything I had. As I thought more on that day, I left the tears falls. I tried to be strong. There was no use in crying over him again, that was the past. But I couldn't help it, my tears turned into me bawling over the love I had lost. Why after all these years did it still hurt so bad. I got out the shower, made my self some lemon tea and then curled up in bed while watching 'The Golden Girls'.

When I woke up, I went to the bathroom and saw my puffy eyes in my reflection. I brushed my teeth, washed my face, put on my makeup and got dressed. I put on a black pencil skirt with a white button up shirt, red heels and red lipstick to match. I put my hair in a bun and stuck two chopsticks in it with hoop earrings. I grabbed a banana on my way out and left. Traffic slowed me down but I made it to work on time. As I walked in, Sharon handed me a cup of coffee and I thanked her.

"Any appointments today?"

"You have one with the Meyers client at 2 and you have Mr. Cartwright waiting on you now."

"Ok. Tell him to come on back, gotta go ahead and get this over with." I said with a smile. I walked in my office, put my stuff down, and sat down. Just as I took my seat, Jared walked in...
