I stare at the sight in front of me, my face turning white as a sheet of paper. After a while, what's worst hits me: there were people inside.

"We need to go look for survivors." says Park slowly, and he looks like he forgot about the pain.

We run inside, too shocked to check if anyone is still here and run around the only standing building. I feel the need to cry immediately when I see what's in front of me.

People from our Group, my family, shot and bleeding on the floor. I look at their faces, trying to see who I can't spot. I let out a slight scream and start sobbing when I catch sight of a face I hoped I wouldn't have seen: Cassidy.

Kyle comes towards me worried, and so does Parker.

"Hey, it's okay," they say, and we group hug.

"These bloody bastards! I want to shoot every single one of them in the head and rip their eyes off!"

I hate crying. It doesen't help with anything and it makes you look weak.

"I didn't see Jade and Ashley." I say, trying to calm myself.

She's dead. I'm never going to see the blue eyes that took care of me for so long. First my biological mother, and now her. I turn around and run outside, feeling the need to puke all of a sudden. Too many dead bodies of people I care about. It's a nightmare, I don't think I'll sleep again soon. Our Group has lost people before, but never almost all of them.

After a while, my only two friends left come outside, both of them wide eyed and Kyle with red, puffy eyes.

"God, why couldn't they just get what they needed and leave?" says Parker.

"I don't know. A Group of psychotics did this for sure."

We sit down on the ground, lost.

"So...we're loners now?" I ask after some time.

"We still have eachother." Kyle states.

"Well, if you want to still have me we'll need to find a doctor, it hurts really bad and it might get infected." he tells us, referring to his wound.

"Shit, you're right, let's go."

Wiping my tears away, I get up and start walking in no precise direction.

"Sooo, where to now?" asks Kyle.

"Perhaps the closest Group? We'll take our bikes. It's probably Blue Group."

We cycle quickly, and I feel slight envy and sadness when I see their building. They still have their families, their home. A tear tries to escape my eye but I quickly wipe it away.

Me, Parker and Kyle don't say anything as we get our guns out and leave our bikes propped on a tree

We tiptoe and hide behind one of the walls of their building, and Kyle peeks to see if it's clear. He nods his head once and we start walking.

"Intruders!" I hear someone scream.

"Shit!"

We all run in different directions so we can distract whoever is following us.

After a while, I feel like my legs are going to fall off and I desperately need water. Making sure no one is behind me, I stop and sit down, my back leaning on a wall.

I'm alone now. It might take me days, if not weeks to find Kyle and Parker again. I've never been more terrified in my life, being a loner is terribly hard, loners are the most brutal people in our country, they need to be in order to survive. I doubt I'll make it too far.

Where will I spend the night? I need to get some sleep. Maybe I can find a deserted building somewhere.

As I get up, I try to ignore my thirst. We always have bottles of water and food with us, in case something like this happens, but I need to store my supplies.

It doesn't take me long to find what I was looking for. It's a house, but it doesn't have a roof, so I hope it doesn't rain tonight, it would be the last thing I need.

Opening the old door, I enter the hallway and start exploring my surroundings. The paint is peeling off the walls, the furniture is mostly destroyed and there's a broken TV in front of a red, uncomfortable couch. I sit on it and allow myself to take a sip from my water and lie down. I look down at my barely working clock which I got from Parker for my birthday. It makes my heart ache, but I ignore it. It's 6:00 pm already. I can get some sleep I guess, tomorrow's gonna be a hard day.

AFTER A COUPLE OF HOURS

"Hey, do you think we're gonna find anything in here?"

I'm woken by a man's voice outside the house. I immediately shoot up and look outside the window.

There's 2 of them. One has grey hair and the other is bald, and they're both pretty scary. I think they want to get in.

I grab my stuff and stay with my back pressed to the wall next to the door. After they open it and make a few steps inside not noticing me, I take off running and hide behind a big tree. Shit, that was close.

I start walking after a while, trying to stay in the shadows. Right when I think I'm safe (pft, like I'm ever safe), I hear footsteps again, very close to me. Stopping dead in my tracks, I try to locate where the sound comes from.

"Hey, you alright there?" a raspy male voice says from behind me.
