Chapter 2: Dreams
"Unk Lulu do you think mommy and daddy will be home in time for our buthday?" a younger version of myself asked a man hiding in the shadows as he braided my hair.
"I don't know sweetheart, but I'm sure they will do everything in their power to be here for your birthday," he said and a feeling of warmth flooded through me.
Suddenly the scene changed to a ball room and it was an avid celebration. Then Alex walked up to me offering me his hand, but before I could grab it I floated into the air. Everyone was looking at me shocked as I turned into some sort of creature with dark red wings on my back. No one was afraid though and Alex shifted into a similar creature, but he had no wings instead he had a horn in the middle of his forehead.
"You see your destiny child you aren't human, you and your mate are the only ones left of an ancient species. The species of the Ralaknin a proud and powerful race, but they were to powerful and were believed to be mother myth's enemies. Every last one was believed to be killed over a million years ago yet here you and your mate are without a doubt Ralakin's the females have wings the males have horns it's how people could tell them apart," a dark hooded creature hissed his voice filled with menace. "She'll kill you two the reincarnation of mother myth will kill you," he said flashing picture of one of my sisters into my mind.

"No," I screamed waking up in an instant covered in sweat.
Looking at the clock on my bedside table it read 5 a.m. Luca told me he was up before dawn most days and in his office, so I decided to go and talk to him. I got dressed quickly in jeans and a hoodie and hurried out of my room towards the music room. The path was empty as I walked and the sky seemed so bright and full of life. Soon enough I was at the door of his office that lead right out to the gardens I was standing in. I was hesitant to knock, but didn't have to as the door flung open.
"Rina is everything alright?" he asked as he gestured for me to come in and sit down.
"Not really I had a strange dream one was of me when I was younger with a man I'd never met, and the other kept repeating the word Ralaknin," I said watching as his face paled with the name of the species I had been a part of in my dream.
"That is something I've only heard of in legends Rina, so I can't tell you much. Was anything else mentioned in your second dream?"
"A voice hissed at the end repeatedly that mother myth will kill me over and over again and showed me an image of one of my sisters," I said in a voice barely even a whisper one he shouldn't have heard from the other side of the room.
"Mother Myth is something I know about she is said to be the basis and creator of every magical creature or species in the world except for the Ralaknin, the only thing I know about the Ralaknin is they are said to be the oldest myth in the world," he said struggling as if was trying to not reveal a big secret to me, and I had a feeling my dream had a lot to do with all the vague things people had been saying yesterday.
"They're just Myth's though, so isn't everything just made up?" I asked watching as his eyes filled with panic.
"Well yes, but every myth is based off of a tiny morsel of truth," Luca told me.
"Ok thanks Lulu," I said leaving the room, but not before I notice him fall over in a dead faint and then suddenly jump back up onto his feet looking like he'd just seen a ghost.
I was walking around the gardens just admiring the flowers when I felt something land on my shoulder and nearly creamed. Until I looked and saw a tiny little kitten on my shoulder that couldn't have been bigger then my hand. She was a calico kitten with the palest green eyes I'd ever seen. Her fur was mixtures of white, orange, brown, black, and slight tinges of gray. She meowed at me in a tiny voice that just screamed I'm starving. Looking even closer at her I could see all of her bones poking out of her fur as if she hadn't eaten in a long time.
With her on my shoulder I walked to the cafeteria hoping that they'd allow me to get some milk for the poor little thing. There was still no one out and about when I finally reached the cafeteria the kitten was bundled up into my jacket in my arms because she hadn't stopped shivering. The poor thing was meowing pitifully as I walked inside and saw Alex sitting at a table alone again. He looked up as I walked in and his face held the brightest smile I'd ever seen as he looked at me in joy. There is no way this boy would ever lie to him out right if I asked him a question, but I didn't want to talk to him about my dream.
As I walked past his table without sitting down I could feel the depressed atmosphere around him, and when I looked back at him I almost cried. His face resembled that of a kid who'd just been told he'd never see his best friend again, and I could feel my heart constrict in pain knowing I'd unconsciously hurt him as I walked past him to get the kitten milk. Before I even said something as I approached the cafeteria lady I saw a small saucer of milk on the counter.
"We've been trying to get the poor little thing to eat for us for weeks, but she was too afraid to let us near her," she said in explanation as she handed me the milk and I walked back to join Alex.
I saw his whole face lift up in joy as I approached as if Christmas had come early. He was so cute and radiating happiness as I placed the saucer and kitten down on the table before taking a seat. The kitten just lapped at her milk purring in contentment as she drank the milk. Looking into Alex's eyes filled with such happiness I had the sudden urge to kiss him, and I think my thoughts partially showed on my face because his eyes darkened a bit as I looked at him. I could sense an inter struggle going on inside of Alex as he looked at me, and he seemed to win it because he just grabbed my hand and went back to eating pushing another plate towards me making me realize he'd been waiting for me.
"Thank you Alex," I said before starting to eat which was difficult with my left hand, but I didn't want to stop holding Alex's hand.
When I looked at Alex his eyes were filled with laughter as he looked at me. Then suddenly he grabbed my fork from me and raised it to my lips raising an eyebrow at me in a silent message. Blushing I opened my mouth and took the morsel blushing more as he purposely made sure to trail his fingers along my lips. He repeated the process until all my food was gone by which time I was as red as a tomato especially because in between feeding me he'd use the same fork I'd been eating off to eat his food. I blushed even more as I realized we'd been indirectly kissing the whole time we were eating.
"Are you all right, Rina?" he asked with a smirk.
"How is it I've known you for only two days and yet I feel like we've known each other for ever?" I asked him my question making him radiate more happiness then the sun radiates light.
"Do you believe in soul mates, Rina?" he asked seriously as he looked into my eyes.
'I'm not sure. My mom left my dad or he left us when we were really young. I can feel that he's not dead and I know that my mom gets a far off look in her eyes when she looks at Ricky she told me Ricky reminds her of dad once, and they were meant to be I can feel it yet they are separated. I've never felt I've belonged anywhere until I met you Alex,' is what I wanted to say, but instead I said. "In my eyes love is only an illusion people trick themselves into."
As his eyes dimmed I felt horrible, but I was afraid to admit to him or myself that I could totally believe in soul mates if he was mine. I looked into his eyes once more and grabbed the kitten gently bolting from the room ignoring his cries for me to go back to him. Once I was in the comfort of my room my eyes widened in shock noticing all of the cat supplies that were in my room. I spotted a note and read it in my mind, Rina, Izzy (the cafeteria lady) told me about the kitten. Here's everything you'll need for her. Luca.
Smiling to myself I glanced at the clock grabbed my bag as I realized the time and ran off to class in hurry. Getting there just in time because right after I sat down a man walked into the room making me gasp in shock. Right in front of me and the class was.........................................................................
