Levi POV

One Year Later

I cannot believe today is the day. Waking up with the sun shining through my window I can't help but feel an eerie feeling in the pit of my stomach. Exactly one year ago today my world changed forever, everything I knew came crumbling down around me. This is the day that I found out my bestfriend Westley James was dead.

Here we are on the anniversary of his death and the cops still don't know anymore now than they did then. His death is slowly fading from the people of White Oaks memory and we are all still living not knowing exactly what happened to him.

I remember when the town first learned of his death. Everyone was so terrified and on edge, because things like this never happen in White Oak....

On paper White Oak was the perfect town, a safe place to live and raise a family. Where every secret, every lie, everything that wasn't absolute perfection was buried.

Living in this town you learned quickly that everything was not as it seemed. Wes knew this better than anyone else. He always said that I should look closer and truly see what was going on around me. I guess this is why Wes was so popular.

There was just no way you couldn't be friends with him. On top of being the life of the party, Wes knew things not just about his enemies but about his friends as well. I am not talking about little girl playground secrets, he knew things that could absolutely bring people in this town to their knees.

As I turn on the television, I begin preparing myself for school. I really would rather not even show up today but me not showing up on the first day is like committing social suicide. By tomorrow everyone will have already found their little cliques so it is imperative that everyone shows up for the first day of school. I really don't think that applies to me much though considering I'm pretty popular.

As I pull my first day outfit out of the closet I notice that the local news is running another story about Wes. This is like the hundredth one they have ran about him since he died. As I'm staring at the television I find myself thinking about his funeral.

*Flashback*

"Westley James was an outstanding you man, always gave a hundred and ten percent no matter what he was doing. He made everyone else around him want to work harder just to be on the same level as him. And to be completely honest he will truly be missed at Valley High." Coach John the gym coach said while wiping away a stray tear.

*End*

As I snap out of my daydream, I notice the same officer who interrogated me that night is on the screen talking. I grab the remote to turn up the volume to hear what he is about to say.

"Based on newly obtained information, we are officially changing the cause of death for Mr. James from accidental death to murder."

At this point the reporters are going berserk. The officer continues, "Unfortunately at this time we do not have any leads or clear suspects, but we will be working tirelessly to bring this person to justice.

In this moment I have no idea what to think. I am honestly shocked, I mean Wes had enemies but I never thought anyone would want to kill him. I look down to see that my phone is vibrating from a new message.

The number is blocked, but I open the message anyway just to see what it can be. Nothing could have prepared me for what I saw in that message. All I knew is that from now on my life will never be the same.

THE LIES HE TOLD FINALLY CAUGHT UP TO HIM AND GET READY BECAUSE THEY WILL CATCH UP TO YOU TO. GAME ON BITCH

Attached was a snapchat screenshot of Westley's dead body and on the caption it said I murdered Westley Taylor and you're next.

Short chapter but I really just wanted to write something right quick. The updates will probably be pretty slow on this story but I will try to write as often as I can. Comment. Vote. Share. Thanks a bunch.
