The bank was eager to sell the house. We were owners within two hours. It's a small town, so word spread fast, and all day while we were moving in, people were driving past, slowly, to see if it was true.
I made sure to take a lot of before pictures.
Our family refused to even help us move in. They've expressed that we're being idiots.
Once we're all moved in inside and painted, which took an entire day, we put up a giant cover over the entire yard so nobody could see inside, and started with the chainsaws.
It took an entire day just to take down the overgrowth, and another day to bag everything up. The land is just grass now. People are constantly driving past to see, and they get frustrated when they can't see anything.
We spent three days trying to get the vines down.
When they were down, we pressure washed the house. We've had the house for six days now.
"I'm glad we did this." Brody says. "This is going to be great, baby." He kisses my cheek.
We paved the driveway again after digging up all the cement by ourselves. We still haven't mowed the lawn.
We made a stone rock pathway to the porch, and paint the house.
That took two days.
We're up to a week and one day.
We start to dig up parts of the yard. After two days of planting and digging, we have a grassy pathway that leads to nothing yet.
We start to set up our newest project.
We make a giant pond with a waterfall that flows all over the backyard, right up to the back deck with fish in it.
It's ten foot deep.
The pond with the stream is beautiful, crystal clear water.
We spend the last day going last minute things, mowning the lawn, pulling weeds.
By the next morning, on the two week mark, we finish.
Everyone laughed in our face when we told him this place would be transformed in two weeks.
I'm happy we succeeded.
We call our family, and soon enough, almost the entire town is lined up to see this.
I look at Brody.
"Ready?" I ask.
We even have a stone patio. There's a rocking bench on the porch, too.
The house is fucking stunning.
I'm so proud of us.
Brody nods.
We pull the string at the same time.
It falls, and gasps are heard from everywhere.
People gape at the house.
It's light gray shingles with a regular colored brown roof and a soft green trim, a soft green porch, wooden, of course,, a dark green front door, and the entire two acres is paths to gardens or a part of the beautiful pond, and there there's one little area with a bench for us to sit, and an area with a hammock.
People gasp and step onto the property.
Our cars are in the garage.
"I have to say," Dad says. "I really didn't think you could pull it off. This is incredible."
