Caroline Forbes stood at the border of Mystic Falls, tears streaming down her face as she stared up at the stars in the midnight sky. Pain and guilt rippled through her heart as she slowly backed away. She gave herself a shake, wiping the tears from her eyes. She turned her back to the border and begins to walk away. She paused, turning back to give her hometown one last look. "Goodbye, Mystic Falls." She said with a sniffle. "New Orleans, here I come." And in blur of wind and blonde curls, she was gone.
The Mikaelson Compound
Klaus stood, painting with a swirl of blacks, dark blues, and edgy purples as Hayley and Elijah enter the room. "Your pyschotic witch of an aunt is coming for our daughter and you're painting?!" Hayley shouted in disbelief. She slammed a fist through one of his latest paintings. Klaus threw down his paint brush, frustrated with Hayley's constant badgering. "Control yourself, little wolf. I have a plan to defeat Dahlia, which I am very willing to share provided you lot cut off all ties to Freya." Klaus said in a snappy tone. Elijah stepped forward before Hayley could respond. "I will not choose between you and our sister, Niklaus. Now put an end to this foolishness and reveal your plans for Dahlia." He said with authority.
Klaus slowly shook his head and turned back to his painting, ignoring both Hayley and Elijah. A growl of frustration erupted from Hayley as she tossed a vase at Klaus. In a blur of movement, he turned and caught it. He shot Hayley a disappointed look. "Really? Throwing a tantrum to get what you want, little wolf? Didn't your parents teach you better manners than that?" Klaus said, raising an eyebrow. Elijah shot his brother a warning glance. "Niklaus." He said. Klaus ignored him and continued, "Oh that's right! They died and at the hands of one of their own. And then your adoptive parents didn't want you either."
Hayley's jaw dropped and her eyes filled with tears. She whirled around and stormed out of the room. Elijah simply shook his head as he followed her out of the room. Klaus felt slightly regretful but shrugged it off and turned back to his painting.
The French Quarter
Caroline stood on the corner, looking confused. She'd just realized she left her phone in Mystic Falls. "Great. Way to go, Caroline. You turn off your humanity instead of dealing with grief like a normal person and now that it's back on, you can't even remember to bring your phone." She scoffed at herself. She looked around, hoping to see some sign of Klaus.
Rebekah was walking down the street, on her way to meet with Davina, when she stopped in her tracks. She was surprised to see Caroline and approached her eagerly. "Caroline Forbes, what are you doing out in the French Quarter? And looking like a lost puppy at that." Rebekah said in her usual snarky tone. Caroline turned and looked at the girl before her, confused. She didn't recognize Rebekah in the body of Eva Sinclair. She kept her guard up.
"Do I know you?" Caroline asked with a snappy attitude. "Oh! You don't recognize me, new body and all. It's me, Rebekah." Rebekah said with a laugh. Caroline's eyes widened in surprise. "Rebekah? As in Barbie Klaus? As in the evil blood slut who helped her pyscho hybrid brother ruin our lives? Klaus's sister?" Caroline said in a sarcastic tone. Rebekah looked offended until Caroline let out a sigh of relief. "Thank God! I've been in New Orleans for two days and I can't find my way around at all." She said in a huff. Rebekah smirked and crossed her arms. "So what is a goodie two-shoes like you doing in the big bad hybrid's territory? Come to show us the error of our bloody ways?" She asked with a small chuckle.
Caroline didn't smile. She looked rather embarrassed and for a moment she considered making up a lie but settled on telling the truth. "Actually, I'm looking for Klaus. Because we kind of had a thing back in Mystic Falls and now everything is kind of falling part and I really need to see him." She sighed. Rebekah looked shocked. "Bloody hell, what happened?" She asked. Caroline blinked away tears as she recalled her reasons for leaving Mystic Falls behind. "My mom died of cancer and I turned off my humanity. Then I killed people and forced Stefan to turn off his humanity. I burned my mom's letter and acted like a complete psycho. Now everything is ruined so I just really need a fresh start." Caroline sighed.
