CHAPTER SEVEN

Curiosity was killing me. Never in my entire life have I ever experienced this type of feeling. It was something else, something unusual.

To keep my mind off from thinking ridiculous things, I started reading 'Angels and Demons' by 'Dan Brown'. It was like a medicine for my eagerness.

Am I getting curious to know him? Of course not! But...

I found myself staring out of the window. I saw people passing me by, leaving me behind. It felt like I was wasting my time but no, I wasn't. The scene outside the window was vast and shimmering, red as blood in the fading light. I was drowning deep into it. It was twilight.

Forget it Scarlett. You're not gonna get any phone call. I thought.

Something was wrong with me. I was checking my phone in every minute or two. I even tried to stop myself but something took my hand in that direction where my phone was kept. Devon was keeping a watch on me. Every time she knocked at the door, I got startled.

In the peace of twilight, the shrill scream of my phone cut the silence like a bird singing a strain with all its heart in the early morning.

I ran towards my phone. The feeling of ecstasy was filled in every vein of mine.

"It's an unknown number! Yayy" I said to myself. I was happy for no reason. Or maybe I was not able to accept the reason for my happiness. There are some unusual feelings that make you feel crazy but you are not able to digest that you are feeling them. Same thing was happening to me. I was not able to believe that I was having butterflies roving in my stomach because a random guy was going to call me. Dumb.

"Mmm..Hel-hello?" Wait. I was stammering!

No answer

"Hey! An-anyone there?" One thing was crystal clear to me that this guy named Elstein was shy.

"Hello?" No answer. Was he dumb and deaf?

He hung up the call.

*knock knock* Someone was at my door. I got a strong feeling that Elstein was standing behind the door.

"Hey dearie! May I come in?" Crimson said.

Okay! So now even my physical sensation was lying to me.

She was wearing a mild blue coloured frock with crocks. She was looking cool and attractive. Weird combination though.

"Oh! Sure."

"Thanks. Well you must be thinking what am I doing here? To get the answer of this question look at my face." She said. It felt like she was trying to control her laugh.

"Umm..to ask me how I am feeling? And your face looks...blank!" I wanted to ask her about Elstein but couldn't.

"Absolutely not! CAN'T YOU SEE THAT I'M BOILING WITH ANGER!? YOU WERE IGNORED ME RIGHT!? CAN I ASK YOU WHY?" The sudden shout gave me a mini heart attack. She changed her colours suddenly like the thing just clicked into her mind. I could see the rage igniting like a flame in her eyes. I had nothing to say and so I looked away.

"Look at me Scarlett." She said.

"You need some fresh air and so do I. Let's go out for a walk." I smiled and she nodded very easily without any further argument.

The darkness was about to come. I never liked the stars which destroy the darkness of the night. It felt as if the night sky was loosing its deepness, its mysteries. Stars made the plane sky decorative and that is why most of the people admired them. But I was scared of them.They always told me something. Something which I never wanted to hear.

"I'm sorry Crimson. You should stay away from me. I will destroy you." I said.

"Are you a bomb or something that's going to blast?" She said and I can still feel her anger.

"Everybody has a dark side. Even I have. The only difference is that...my dark side is the darkest. Only someone who is happy can give you happiness. I'm not and so I don't want you to be just like me. You live in your brightest world but for me, this world is dead. I hope you will understand." I said. My eyes were full of tears. I never wanted this to happen.

There was a silence between us like the world was dead. Suddenly she said, "You know what I think? To let your light shine in the darkness, you have to stay there for sometime. Light ends the darkness. Meet you at the school tomorrow. Take care."

She walked away.
