I sat next to my mother and Father. I knew where I belonged.
My test results were inconclusive, but I knew I was dauntless. Nothing else.
"Stephanie Fall!" Marcus' voice echoed throughout the room. I stood up, and looked back at my parents' worried faces.
"Know your place, sweetheart." My father said, before I turned away and made my way up to the five bowls containing ones fate.
I cut my palm and set the knife down. My hand hovered over the water. I took a deep breath and let my blood drop, burning on the red hot coals.
"Dauntless!" Murcus boomed. I hear gasps from my former faction. I could almost hear the individual voices of my parents, but I turned my attention to the cheering dauntless.
I smiled as I made my way up to the group. Knowing that the people who stood before me, cheering and clapping, were my family.
This is where I really belong.

I climbed the bridge up to the train platform. I was exited, and a bit nervous.
I'm really a dauntless. I thought, as I hauled myself up.
A few other Erudite transferred as well. Even an Abnegation transferred. I thought that was odd, but enough worrying about people I do not know.
I hear the train horn blaring in the distance, getting louder, and closer, each second that passed.
Adrenaline rushed through me as the train zoomed past me. I ran, as did everyone else. I hauled myself onto the train, rolling into the car as I struggled the catch my breath.
I close my eyes as I regain my breath, but I have yet to sit up.
My eyes shoot open to the sound of screaming.
"They're jumping!" A girl yells.
I stand up as quickly as I can, looking out of the car, seeing people jump one by one, onto a rooftop.
I chuckle and position myself, and jump out.
I feel free in the air, like a bird in the sky, until I hit the gravel, landing on my feet.
I look back at the train. There were still transfers, left behind to be factionless. I guess that's what they get for choosing dauntless and not actually being fit for it.
I walk toward the group of chattering dauntless. Their chatter was silence when a man spoke up.
"I'm Eric, one of your leaders."
Eric... That name is so familiar. I couldn't quite put my finger on it..He continued. "Behind me is the entrance to the dauntless compound. If you don't have the guts to jump, you don't belong to dauntless."
Murmurs were shared throughout the group of teenagers until another former Erudite spoke up.
"Is there water at the bottom or something?" He asked. I reconized the voice as Will, one of my friends from back at Erudite.
"I guess you'll have to find out." Eric answered with a smirk. "Well someone's gotta go first, who's it gonna be?"
A girl from abnegation opened her mouth to speak up, but I beat her to it. What can I say? Jumping off of a building sounds pretty interesting. After all, I was an Erudite.
"I will." I said. The group in front of me split into two, making a path to the front of the group, where Eric stood.
I made eye contact with Eric, and his eyes widened a bit. At that moment I knew exactly who he was, and I wish I hadn't.
His eyes weren't the gorgeous ocean blue they used to be, but a dull gray that held stress and frustration.
This arms were covered in tattoos as well as his neck. And his face held piercings in various places.
He was so....
Different.
I took a shaky breath as I stepped onto the ledge. I look down into the darkness below.
"Today, initiate." Eric snapped.
I looked his way and stared daggers at him. Before he could let out another word I jumped.
I let the air engolf me as I fell foot after foot, yard after yard. I closed my eyes, as it seemed I had been falling for several minutes. Hours maybe.
I let out a gasp when I felt by body hit something harsh, only to be flung back up into the air once again.
Once I had settled I realized I landed on a net.
I let out a hasty breath I didn't know I was holding in, as I helped myself out of the net to be met by a dauntless man with a stone cold expression set on his face.
"What's your name?" He asks, his voice void of any emotion whatsoever.
"Stephanie." I say, smiling at him, but I don't get one in return.
"First jumper, Stephanie!" He yells, as the next person screams and falls into the net.

Four, one of the instructors, showed us the dormitory. I can't believe we're going to be staying in this for 10 weeks.
I put on my curve-hugging, black dauntless clothing, earning a few whistles from the cocky dauntless boys.
I throw my former faction clothing into the incinerator. I watch it burn as the embers glow. I could watch it for hours without getting bored of it.
Four led us out to where I guess we're supposed to eat.
"Get some food initiates! You've earned it for today."
