I woke up, today was a few days before our break. Stage one was near conclusion.
I was currently ranked 1st, I was second until the incident with Peter stabbing Edward in the eye. They didn't have "proof" He did it. Bullshit.
About an hour or so later, I walk into the training room along with everyone else.
We were doing fights today, determining your final rank, and who gets cut.
Win or lose, I was sure I'd stick around.
I was paired with Peter. Some cocky kid from candor. Peice of cake.
When it was my turn, I unlaced my boots, took them off and stepped up into the 'ring'.
Peter, being the numbskull that he is, threw the first punch.
I grabbed his wrist with a tight grip and twisted it behind his back.
He grunted as I pushed him down to the ground, slamming his face against the floor.
I did that repeatedly until Four ordered me to stop.
"Stephanie wins."
Later on I went and got a tattoo on the small of my back. It read;
Keep moving forward.
It's cheesy, I know. Don't judge me.
I sat at the bar, cup half full with beer.
"What you did today was pretty impressive."
I turn around, expecting to see Eric standing there, smirk on his face.
But to my surprise it was Peter, bruise on his cheek. Before I could open my mouth, he knocked me out.
I woke up at the chasm. He was about ready to push me in.
I screamed, pushing and shoving, trying to earn more time. Every second counted.
I punched him in the face, he fell back, allowing me to escape from the very edge.
He pushed me, I stepped back, feeling the edge of the chasm. I wouldve fell straight to my death but I felt a grip on my hand, pulling me back to safety.
Peter was on the ground, out cold. I look up to have my eyes meet with those cold, dull grey ones, that are all to familiar.
"Why-?"
"We need to talk."
I sigh, walking down the hallway to the dorms.
I didn't want to talk to him, but I owed him my life. It was the least I could do.
"I- I didn't mean what I did back in Erudite."
It was so unlike him to just.. apologize. At least the 'new' him.
"I suppose I can forgive you, after your random act of kindness back there.."
He chuckles, I stand back, shaken.
"That's the first time I've seen that happen since Erudite."
He smiled, it was a small smile, but it was there. It soon faded when Four appeared in the hall. He hadn't said anything as he walked past, but he eyed the both of us.
His expression goes blank for a while. I started thinking to myself.
Why did I forgive him so easily? He was such a jerk to me..
I didn't really forgive him though. He wasn't my friend. After how heartless he was towards me.
I snapped out of it when something was said.
"I haven't forgotten about you. Throughout this time we've been 'apart'."
He flinched at that word, but shook it off, his expression remaining blank.
"I missed you."
I was taken aback from those words.
Missed me? Hell you're the one who pushed me away. The big, scary leader wasn't what everyone thought he outta be. He had feelings, he was just good at hiding them.
I was looking for something to say, but to no avail. I did miss him as a friend, but not what he was thinking of. "More then that."
Those three words echoed throughout my mind for the rest of the night.
I woke up, in a foreign area. I knew it was break, so something crazy might have happened. But it couldn't have been with an initiate.
I go to get up, but an arm was placed around my waist, restricting me from doing so. I look over, to be met with the face of my childhood friend.
Eric.
I quietly scramble to get out of his grasp and into my clothes. I knew nothing 'happened' because we were both fully dressed in our sleepwear.
But why am I here?
I thought this while lacing up my boots. I was bewildered. Why would I think this was a good idea?
"I see you're awake." I spun around, eyes locking with his.
He was in his boxers, and a t-shirt. I tried my best not to look him up and down. His hair was also messy, but not in a bad way. He almost was attractive. But I don't want to think of him in that way.
"Yes, I'm up. Care to explain why I woke up to your arms wrapped around my waist?"
He almost seemed to have been blushing.
"I didn't want Peter to abduct you in the night, so I took it upon myself to have you stay here for the night."
"So you cuddle me?" I say, in between laughs.
"Well- um.." I cut him off, like he wouldve found what to say anyway.
"You don't have to answer that. I know." I winked, and opened the door to leave.
"Steph wait-" He stopped me. I was surprised. Nobody has called me that since.. well, Erudite.
He pulled me up close to his face, causing me to slightly blush. His lips crashed into mine, and to my surprise they were soft, and gentle.
But I refused to kiss back, I pull away, not making any eye contact.
"I have to go.." I say, continuing to walk to the dormitory, as quickly as I could.
I still heard the heavy footsteps behind me as I went.
