14 years laterA small smoked glassed room with a lectern standing at the top of the room with an old cork board made from old wine tops slumped on the wall. Pins struck into loose paper all connected one to one by a cat's yarn. Suddenly the door swung open and four recruits in their newly pressed uniforms of navy blue stood like logs of wood. A stern mid forty man with a stubble of white and gold, gruntled and spoke with a heavy, thick , throaty voice spoke out loud
"Welcome rookies I'm Chief Conover, you may have passed your training but that is just the beginning of your work as an officer of the law. Now there is not a lot of you this year due to cuts, we also had to partner you up with some of our most prestigious officers of the law!
Which for you will be a great learning experience. Muhammad you will be paired with Sergeant Rogers, Elizabeth you will paired with Sergeant Vern's, Troy you will be with Sergeant Carmen, and finally we left Sergeant Peters to Enos. Now get out this office find your superior and learn something and by the end of this winter you'll all be qualified officers of the law. Now move it!"The new recruits stood at attention and quickly dashed through the smoked filled door into an old hall littered with desks and men and women dressed in blue some dressed to go Sunday service. A casual beaten crook is pulled by the metal shacks around their wrist into the hall, with a cheerful introduction by the members of blue. Amongst the many was a man in his mid thirties brunette clean shaven and well presented compared to others. Even his desk was a reflection, prestige in control. Enos approached carefully and on his way some trained members through paperwork onto the man's desk and quickly bumping into our new recruit. A sharp but calm voice could be heard amongst the crown it was calming but it had some authority.
"I wouldn't worry about those, they're just shocked because a rookie has got me to train them. I don't blame them I'm probably the best here and I know how to keep tidy not like most of these slobs. plus I'm not well know to have partners. The name is John Peters but you'll call me sarge until you've earned to say my name understood rookie."Enos was shocked but glad he had a teacher whom is firm he placed his hand out for a friendly greeting but was given the cold shoulder. A nervous and quiet voice spoke up " My name is Enos Williams but you call me what you like sir" the Sargent have a small glance and smiled "Williams it is, until I've earned your name too rookie. Now let us get out of here and do some actual work."
The Sargent stood tall and proud as he walked out with Enos closely behind through a bright wall of light they went and into a jungle or sorts, people every way they looked and walls of glass concrete gently rising above. Out on black wrinkled street layed an old black saloon vehicle rust gently laying on the undercarage and missing paint like a cat scratched quilt Peters soon charged forward and sat in the car with is hand on the hood waiting for Enos to be done with is pondering and lack of observation.
Enos walked down the few white marble steps and into the car he looked at his commanding officer with a slight shaking of the leg and a smirk of excitement this is what he wanted the anticipation of police work but yet he did not know what was to come.
