Another crash was heard outside the door and this time, Benedict was adamant to check it out.

“I should go and see what the hell that was.” He slowly creeping out of bed, Melody gripping onto his arm.

“Ben.” She whispered.

“Yeh?” He whispered back.

“I love you too.” She simpered slightly, Benedict smiling at her and he quickly turned his head towards the door.

He pressed his bare feet against the wood so lightly that even he could barely hear his own footsteps.

Creeping up to the door, he noticed a baseball bat of all things. He wrapped his fingers around the handle and armed himself.

Opened the door quickly, he held the bat up and nearly gave his parents a heart attack!

“Gordon Bennet!” Timothy cried out, Wanda breathing heavily.

“Er… Sorry.”

“Gosh Ben, we thought you broke in.” Benedict frowned. So someone did break in?

“Wait… What?” Wanda placed her hand onto Benedict's shoulder.

“We heard a crash come from the porch.” She lowered her voice. “Someone has broken in…” Benedict quietly moved his parents into the room with Melody, Wanda running to her. Timothy and Benedict stood near the door.

“Dad, look after Melody.” Timothy grabbed Benedict's arm. Benedict stared at his Father.

“Don't do anything stupid son.” He moved closer towards his ear. “Did you tell her?” A smile grew onto his face.

“Yes… I really love her Dad. And…” He scoffed. “Damn, she loves me too.”

“Well son, you better be back for her heart.” Timothy frowned. “Oh no, I've turned into your Mother.”  Benedict chuckled and took a deep breath before opened the door swiftly.

“Where's Ben going with a… bat?” Melody asked, worried.

“Don't worry dear. He'll be fine. He's just checking who it is.” Wanda smiled at Melody, who suddenly cried out in pain. “Melody dear, what is it?”

“Ah… it's… just some contractions… I'm sure I'll be fine.” Melody began to breath heavily.

Her worry for Benedict could be the cause of her baby's birth.

Benedict lowered the sound of his breathing and peered his head around the corner to reveal a man drinking.

Drinking a bottle of bourbon.

Benedict lowered his bat and walked closer towards him, only recognising his face.

“Alex?” The man faced him. “What on earth…?” Alex stood up, throwing the glass beside him. He moved around lazily on the spot.

He was drunk.

“You!” He shouted and Melody's heart jumped.

“Oh my God…” Wanda frowned.

“Hun, what is it?”

“Alex…”

“You! You… take my fiancee… “ He moved closer towards Benedict who held the bat up. “... You aren't getting away with this!” Benedict tensed his cheekbones. “WHERE IS SHE!?” He demanded.

“You… are not touching her, you coward.” Benedict said proudly.

He would let his affection protect her.

“Oh… Is that what you want to say to me?”

“Yes. I bloody love my best friend and she deserve better!” Alex cackled.

“What? You?!” Benedict smirked.

“Yes, me.” Alex threw himself at Benedict and his back hit the wall.

He used all his strength and pushed Alex off him, hitting him in the stomach with the bat.

“Stop!” Melody cried out, a tear falling down her face. She grabbed Benedict's arms and pulled him behind her.

“Mels…” Benedict whispered.

“Oh, hello dear wifey.” Alex holds out his hand. “Coming home?”

“Wrong. How dare you violate Mother's house!” Alex frowned. “You… I am never marrying you.” She grabbed hold of Benedict's hand tightly and gazed at him. “I have only one person in my mind.”

Benedict smiles at Melody, however she does not return that smile. Instead she released her grip for his hands and walked closer towards Alex.

Her fingers moved towards her ring and she pulled it off slowly.

“This is what I think of our relationship…” She threw the ring at Alex and rage grew within him. Melody turned around and quickly punched him in the face.

Alex fell flat onto the floor.

“Get him out Ben…” Melody growled and slowly made her way into her Mother's room.

Benedict picked up Alex and pushed him out of the door with all of his strength.

“Don't come back Alex. How about you fall for Karen? She is just like you.” He slammed the door hard and suddenly, Wanda called Benedict.

“Ben! Ben, come quick!” Benedict rushed towards the sound of his Mother's voice and noticed Melody in agonising pain. “What happened?” He ran towards Melody holding her hand.

“The baby's in its way Ben…” Benedict kissed the palm of her hand and pulled her into him.

He spoke the words that Melody would always hold onto.

“Don't worry… I'll get you through this.”
