At one of my games, my mom had to work, so I begged my coach to let my daughter sit next to him. At first he didn't like the idea. But then he nodded when he met her.

She was 4 now, and she was a lot like me. Aniyla wanted to play ball, we would watch games together, and even play at the park.

As I was running up the court with the balk, I tried to go for the lay up, seeing as all my teammates had defenders on them, I counted wrong, when I was right there to make it, one of the players came at me slamming into me with full on force.

If course it was a foul, and I went to go make my free throws, when I looked to the sidelines, coach had a frown on his face, and his arms crossed over his chest, the little midget next to him had the same look.

"Daddy! You better make this for the team!" I heard, a few people laughed while others eyes widened. I just smiled.

I made the first one, then I went for my second. I made it. It was in a matter of time, because by the time the other team got the ball the game was over.

When we huddled in I picked her up and twirled her around. After that, we went straight home.

Guess who was at my door. "Mom?" Aniyla asked, hiding behind me.

I just frowned, I have nothing to say to this thing."James I need your help." she said. She was crying, and looked terrible.

"What? " I asked. I know she ain't asking we for help with he drug using ass.

"I just got out, I wanted to know if you could let me stay here." she whispered. "Kenneth left me, he said he was thinking clear now and was gonna stay away from me."

I nodded my head. "I know." I muttered, walking past her to get inside my house.

"Please James, just till I get back on my feet." she said holding onto me.

I was gonna say no, she deserved to go through the struggles she was given. "I don't know. " I said, looking away from her.

I felt a tug on my pants. I bent down to look at Aniyla. "Let her stay daddy." she whispered to me.

I looked at her for some time before nodding. "Come in Kaylen." I said opening the door for her.

She nodded in my direction, walking in with her two duffle bags.

This was another one of my mistakes.
