The Doctor walked down the hallway of paintings and drawings, admiring them silently. He was dressed in a suit, as was all the other men there. The women were wearing dresses, champagne being passed around as they talked.

"Hello Sweetie..." Said an oh so familiar voice from behind him, a brighter smile appearing on his face.

He turned around, seeing his golden-haired wife now standing in front of him. He took her in for a moment. She was wearing his favorite green dress on her. He loved when she wore it, It made her green eyes come to life and gave her hair a bit of an extra glow to it.

"hello, wife.." he said. "What brings you here?" he questioned softly.

River let out a small laugh, her smile growing a bit. "Well I was coming here because I finally got a day off, and I figured this would be a nice outing...but as it turns out my job as wife never has a break, not that I'm complaining at all. What were you doing here?" she asked.

The doctor gently grabbed a glass of champagne for each of them, handing one to her. "Well, I was keeping tabs like always. Some of these paintings were gifts to me, but I Don't mind these museums having them. They 'd never get seen in my TARDIS."

River nodded as she took a sip of her drink, enjoying the taste and feeling of the bubbles in her mouth. "Very true.." she said gently as she moved closer to her husband's side, feeling his hand gently go to her back to keep her close.

The Doctor looked around. "come with me?" he asked her, a gentle smile still on his face.

River smiled "Where to?" she asked.

"Just come with me." He said.

River nodded but let out a small laugh at him, wondering what he wanted to do. He moved to set down their drinks and grabbed her hand gently before beginning to walk to where his TARDIS was parked. He walked in with her and brought her over to the console. "Relaxing.." he mumbled as he thought before moving around his TARDIS, pressing buttons and moving things on his console. The TARDIS came to a gentle stop after a moment. River stood there quietly, trying to figure out what he was doing. The doctor had a happy grin on his face, looking at her with a gentle look in his eyes. He grabbed her hand again and went over to the doors, opening them and sitting down, patting the spot next to him. She sat next to him. "What are we doing?" she asked, looking out of the doors as they sat, looking at the vast array of stars and planets, swirling before their eyes.

"Relaxing, not running tonight...you wanted time off, so this is me giving you relaxing." He said.

River smiled at that. "Thank you.." She said softly before leaning over and kissing his cheek gently. He gently put an arm on her side and pulled her in closer to his side. "You're welcome."he said back softly. The TARDIS made a soft noise before materializing a tray of their favorite tea next to them. River and he doctor both smiled and said thank you to the TARDIS.

After about an hour of them talking amongst themselves, happy smiles on both their faces, the doctor quieting for a moment. "River...stay with me...? At least for the night?" he asked.

River smiled and nodded. "of course.." she said gently. The doctor's smile grew a bit at that. "Good." he said happily before standing up. "Shall we go relax in bed?" he asked as he reached his hand out to her. River grabbed his hand gently and nodded. "I would love that. " she said as she stood up with him. The doctor smiled and gently moved to peck her soft lips gently. " come along Song." He said, sill holding her hand and beginning to walk to his room in the TARDIS. River smiled happily, they hardly slept in his room, she loved when he would let her, she felt herself getting closer to him when the would. She already knew everything about him but it made her feel special.

After both getting into comfortable clothes to sleep in they both slipped into bed together, River having her back towards him. He moved closer to her, wrapping his arms around her and gently nuzzling his nose into her soft curls. "goodnight My Melody.." he whispered. River felt her heart skip a beat. He never called her Melody, only River. No only that but her called her his, why was he talking like this? She didn't want to question it because it made her happy. River slowly closed her eyes, falling asleep happily in his arms.

The doctor stayed up a bit more, just wanting to hold her, keeping her close against his hearts. He smiled to himself. "I love you...and I'm sorry I haven't told you yet...but I do..." he whispered to his sleeping wife, before closing his eyes and falling asleep happily. He did love her but was so scared to lose her because he knew their future. He was afraid of losing himself in her and having her ripped from him, not wanting his hearts to suffer any more loss than they had already been through. Losing the Ponds was hard enough but getting closer to her, his melody, his love, his wife, would destroy him.
