Monday, first period, English class, Mrs. Lewis was talking about something, I don't remember what it was about because I was busy with my drawing. This time it was a drawing of a weird creature, something you can't explain, it had fangs of a vampire, wings of a fairy, walking on four, and had dark brown eyes, like a tiger. My best work so far.
"Dylan! Will you for once pay attention and stop drawing!"
I almost fell out of the chair because of how loud Mrs. Lewis screamed, but a second later she smiled again. Mrs. Lewis always smiles.
I put my sketchbook in my backpack, but when I saw the workbook with a pencil next to it, I couldn't control myself, and I started to draw. I knew that the teacher was looking, so I quickly put my pencil down and told her I was writing notes.
"Alright, as I was saying, this assignment is really important, it will be your final grade this year. You have to write a story of at least ten pages, it can be fantasy or realistic but there has to be a hero. Now, so that there won't be any discussions, I made the groups myself."
When Mrs. Lewis said that, everyone was shocked. There was a system of who works with whom: Andrew - who was my crush for over a year - with Stephanie, the queen bee. James, the gothic but yet sweet looking guy, and Thomas his best friend. Then the geeks with the geeks, the jocks with the cute girls, and me, always having an excuse to make it alone. I liked being alone. I could do what I want without having to think about someone else.
I wasn't paying attention as usual, but then I heard my name: "Dylan Miles and James Steele..."
I don't know why, but I was relieved that she put me with him, maybe it's because I didn't want to be pared up with a geek or a bully. But on the other hand, I got paired up with the gothic boy; witch is weird because I don't know how to act with those kinds of people. Mixed feelings, that's what I had.
Class was finally over. I was hesitating on whether I should go to him or not to discuss everything.
But he was already coming towards me with the biggest smile you could ever imagine.
"Dylan right?" he asked while looking at me with his big brown eyes with eyeliner. I didn't even have a chance to open my mouth and he started to talk.
"So we should probably get started on this, give me your address I'll come to your house at around 6, alright?" I quickly took a pen and paper and wrote down the address.
"Chill, see you later" He winked and went back to Thomas. I was confused, but for some reason I couldn't keep the smile of my face.
6 p.m. sharp I heard his motorcycle stopping by the driveway and I rushed downstairs. Before opening the door I looked in the mirror: curly hair, white teeth, no make-up and a cute dress I bought yesterday. As I opened the door he came in and asked where my room is. He was wearing a normal jean, white t-shirt, blue sneakers and had no eyeliner at all. He didn't look like he usually does and I don't know why.
"You look... different." I gave him a hint saying he should tell me why he is dressed like that.
"I know, I know, I'm wearing this because I know parents don't like their teenage girls to be in a room with well, my types." He said seriously but then immediately smiled. Like Mrs. Lewis does.
And he was right. I was lucky my parents weren't home, because they wouldn't be happy if a boy who came with a motorcycle, dressed completely in black with more eyeliner than me came to my house and went in my room.
We entered my room and suddenly my room looked a lot messier then I thought it did before I opened the front door. He sat down on the bed and took his shoes off.
