(Mario) The Music Box

Chapter 2: The House of Chills

Mario: Am I going the right way? I feel lost...

I started down the path, until I realized something.

Mario: Where did I put that map?

I searched through my pockets.

Mario: Found it! Oh, its just ahead! Silly me...

I made it to a fancy, slim, black gate. I assumed this was it, as back in Brooklyn- or the nice parts of New York, the houses had gates like this. I always thought that the crowded, bustling, and crazy parts of the city were the best, as me and Luigi always made a friend or two wherever we went.

When we got old enough, we got low- tier jobs as low- tier plumbers. Until one job.....

Flashback

It all started back when Mama-mia came to us with a newspaper.

Ma: Boys, boys! Look at this!

We were around 15 when she showed us a job application for a plumbing buisness.

Luigi: What is it Ma? It's just a newspaper. I dont think the funnies are worth getting excited about.

Ma: You two need to start to make a living. After your father left, we've been living off of your cousin. He can't support us as he is, so I've been looking at jobs for you.

Mario and Luigi: What? You didn't tell us about this!

Ma: That's because if I did, you wod resist. Now I want you boys to go to this office wearing the best outfits you have, get this job, and work so you get money to keep us up.

We went, were hired, and a few weeks later we were plumbers!We got our first place of buisness- and we were heading out there as fast as we could.

We were going to be the best plumbers around. So good, we would never make mistakes. But as they say, 'Nobody can be perfect.'

And we weren't.

But that never kept us down.

Never.

On July 23, 1998, an elderly woman by the name of Carol called in, saying her bathtub drainer was clogged.
We got right on the job. It wasn't hard, but it wasn't easy either. At least, until this one itty-bitty screw fell out. Luigi and I- we didn't think it would do any harm, I mean, we were gonna put it back when we were done... But it fell down the drain.

All of the sudden, a huge green pipe spurted out of the drain! It sucked in everything in the bathroom, including us! We thought we were gonna die, but we were safe, for now... We traveled through the pipe, and a few more too, I think. Soon, we saw light. When we got out of the pipe, we couldn't believe what we saw. It was no ordinary place, as there were giant mushrooms! We met the princess, and told her how we got here. She let us stay! Her name was Peach. I liked peaches- especially this one.

A few years later, and I'm the hero of the Mushroom Kindom...

And now I'm here. 24; in the cold, wet, rain, in front of a house that lookes like it would crumble when you breathe.
